Car got stolen.

I'm just not following how you bypass the coded keys...Is it that easy for an amateur to do, or is this an isolated incident with a professional thief? My buddy had his Civic broken into, but they couldn't get into the ignition system. They tried, but couldn't do it. I know he had a coded key as well.
I've got a fairly standard Viper alarm, and I ws counting on the coded key as my last line of defense so at least the car wasn't physically taken. Parts could be replaced, but to lose the car itself would suck...

I think by key code he met cut of the key. Many maunfactures have electronics in the keys now that the car must see to start but most of these systems can still be bypassed. However the Protege has no electronics in the key so any chucklehead can steal them. Even when doing a remote starter in most newer cars you need to get a certain premade modual or even another key and hide it in the car so the car can be started without the key. Without it the car simply isn't going to start.

Many times a factory alarm system is better to keep a car from being taken then even the best aftermarket alarms.

This is really ****** up man. They can't sell the car as is. It's way too limited! They'd never find a valid VIN to use.
And what can they chop from it? Rims, stereo, body kit, MAYBE turbo kit? But that would kind of stick out? "FS: Mazdaspeed protege turbo kit". I swear people, we run probably the largest protege forum out there, so keep an eye out for some LPC bastard trying to "coincidentally" sell MSP parts.

Yeah man, that sucks. Its hard for me to believe how someone could just take something that isn't theres. I hope for the best for you.

Sorry to burst

Sorry to burst your bubble dude... but my car was stolen 4 months ago...

Now let me ... my car was stolen june 28th and i just got my check from the insurance after 4 months of fighting... i had gone through lots of frustration, i wanted to die because of the insurance... but anyways whats done is done and my baby was stolen.... and destroyed by some *****... if you would like to see it , i have a link... http://photos.yahoo.com/lemacfar

Anyways you can see from the damage that my baby was not just stripped, it was destoryed... good luck getting it back, if you want more info on the theft was far as how the insurance tries to **** you , pm me

Sorry to hear that, bud. But you probably should talk about it here for others to read about. Thanks.

Still no car. I think its chopped in mexico. I just cant let the small s*** get to me. Time to move on, I hope the insurance doesnt try to screw me, they seem to be pretty good. I just hope this all works out.

lemacfar: Why were you having to fight with them? Were they not going to give you the money? Were they going to give you to little? Just post all the info here for others to read:).

Thanks

I would imagine quite the opposite, selling one would become very difficult, it would have to be chopped, and even then, the parts (rims, radio, etc..) are somehwat limited and would really stick out

umm basically, the insurance treats you like your the scumbag.... my car was stolen in a my "rich" commmunity probably by some little punks who wanted to joy ride... they stole it and drove it to wellington (about 60 miles from my house) and ****** it up or someone... they found the car before i even woke up the next day... so anyways, your case might be a little different but in my case the car was destroyed hatefully... so the insurance had to try to blame it on me of course being 19... but i work hard for my money so i couldn't understand why they were doing it to me...

anyways, they will conduct a million investigations... in my case it took 4 months to analyze everything including an interrogation that almost made me cry (very horrible insurance companies are).

Long story short, when you pay them their premiums they are very happy, but when you claim somethign, they wanna cut your balls off and leave you hanging, i -being 19- almost had a heart attack because they kept making up bulls*** to reasons they didn't want to pay..

good luck with your claim and hope they never recover ur MSP cause if they do, you get theft recovery title and your car may never be the same to you again... Also a very important thing to do is to Pressure them to finish off the claim... the sooner the better, the most important thing is this.

No car, yet. I hope they dont find it. As horrible as that may sound I know if they dont find my car my claim will go ALOT smoother. I just hope that everything works out for me. My insurance is State Farm, so I dont think that I will have problems. Now THIS IS MY QUESTION TO ALL: IF THEY DONT FIND MY CAR WILL MY CLAIM BE PROSESSED FASTER?

I am having alot of arguments with friends about this, they say yes, I say no.
