Car got ran over... literally :(

Misbehave, we're not talking about big wheels. That's a different subject I'm not gonna start rantin on right now. We're talking about the lifted trucks with big tires on normal size wheels (usually between 15"-17"). 30" tires are about standard size for full size pickups.

yes I know, the one I am talking about have some huge tires as well. The bottom of his truck was taller then the roof of my P5.

That sucks. I got rear ended a couple months after owning the msp. It wasn't as bad as that in someways but worse in others and it wasn't totalled. As far as replacing the rear panel, they cut and weld on a new one. At least thats what they did on mine ,but now it seperating and rusting down by the fenderwell, but is getting fixed. I hope whatever they do you either get your car back and its fixed right, or you get a new car. Glad you are ok, that is the most important.

Wow... sucks, but good to know it got all fixed and they didn't total it. Its conforting to know. Thanks

Well to keep everyone up to date... insurance dude came the other day. $6000, roughly, worth of damage. He said he'll probably have to come look at the car again, but he definetly thinks its fixable. Lol.. that jerk hit me good.

And yes Kevin(I think that was kevin, too lazy to go back and check), it was my friend who ran over the cavalier, but it wasn't his fault. The dude in the cav was stoned off his ass and sped int the parking spot without paying attention. He actually ran into the tire of the truck as my friend was backing up, and so he decided to teach him it's not a good idea to run into trucks.

I dont really care about how high they're lifted, because there will always be bad drivers no matter what, but I think there should be a law that bans trucks from driving around with trailer hitches sticking out with no trailers. I've seen many many more cars ****** up/totalled because of hitting a trailer hitch than I have seen run over.

Its Korey but close enough i still find that whole story ammusing to this day

Heh, started with a "K", close enough ;)

I was actually talking with him about that yesterday and he reminded me that the guy was some wanna be rappper and he gave him (my friend, the guy who just ran over his car!) a demo CD. He's not all that bad either.

Really? I thought that they totalled a car if the damage was more than 1/3 the cars value or something like that?

I have no idea whats going to happen... just have to wait and hear from insurance and get the police report.

Plus if i did take the insurance money and get an MP3... i'd still have to pay off my car.. which I still owe $10000 on.

no gap insurance? ouch. ALWAYS invest in gap insurance...it's fairly cheap (usually around $500) and it'll pay your car off for you if it's totalled. we have it through our insurance company...it's good to know that if one of the cars were totalled, i wouldn't have to roll over all that debt.

ah s*** happens, you'll live! this time get a manual and leave the autos to grannies...danny out!

oh yeh... GAP insurance... I forgot about that beautiful little guy. I'll have to look into that. I'll kill myself if I didn't get that when I bought that car, but I am more than sure I did.

The first dealer I went to (Rick Case.... ******* scumbag car salesman... long and retarded story...I bored your mechanic with it and he agreed they blow) tried to sell on gap insurance... didn't trust him and heard never get it thorugh a dealer.... maybe it's good through an insurance company.

Anyway, long story short, Jim Ellis never tried to sell me on it... didn't get.
About 5000 left in zero interest payments now and she's all mine mine mine. I think I'm good... knock on wood.

<---used to sell cars...but i wasn't an ass...unless people were an ass to me first...then, let the games begin!

it really doesn't matter WHO you get it through...everyone's going to make a profit on it...i guess it just depends who you want to spend your money with.

Well, the guy at Rick Case dealership up here was an ass b/c he guaranteed he could get the car for within a week. So I put a down payment and we shook and everything. He was kinda slimey but a man's word is his word.

So 2 days later someone wants to pay really good money for my SE-R. I call the guy up and he says "yeah car'll be here within a week like I said. in fact if it's NOT here, we'll give you a loaner until it arrives" Great then, so I'm selling my car in three days. "Sure don't worry".

So the week comes and my SE-R is sold. No Protege yet. So he give me a loaner. Drive it 5 days. "We need the car back". WTF? "My manager needs the loaner back. You can't drive it for over a week". So where's my car? "Uhh not here yet" So what am I supposed to do, walk to work? So my friend takes me up there, and we return the loaner. I ask for my down payment back right there. (It ended up taking like a week...)

So I get on the internet that night and named my price on of those sites. A few hundred less than what the other guy gave me. Next day a lady from the other Mazda dealership calls. No haggling on the price, and 5 days later they have a car shipped up from Tampa and she delivered it to me at work. So obviously the car was out there and the guy at other dealership was a complete lazy asshole. Jim Ellis Mazda is the bomb. The paperwork took 6 minutes and I'd never even met the saleslady face to face before. All over e-mail. Negotiating over the interweb is the way to go.

jim ellis in marietta sucks ass...i know a guy that works at their other store, and he's the s***...but i hate the one in marietta. i saw a used mp3 up at the marietta store after a meet...i called on it and they wouldn't come off $14,500...so i had our GM call (he knew the guy i spoke to) and he STILL wouldn't come down...bulls***. so, i bought one a week later with fewer miles for 12,600 off the forum.

Well, they hooked me up when I purchased and it was no hassle :)

Haven't been back since though! (Except to buy some oil filters and spark plugs and they pulled my stock radio for free). I wonder how much they charge for 30K mile maintenance.... I'm not going to find out.

Oh and I lost my locking lug nut key and went to the other Jim Ellis store. The head mechanic took the locking ones off and gave me 4 lug nuts for free. Sweet. The Marietta store wanted like 100+ for a new key or something. Oh yeah, and when I bought a 626 oil filter the parts guy said something like he couldn't sell it to me if I had a Protege even though it would fit... I started laughing. Well what if it's for my wife's 626 or something. But he wasn't allowed to recommend it and "the computer database wouldn't let me purchase it". The computer. I saw I was going to laugh in his face so hard about that I think he just gave up and sold it to me.
OK... maybe the Marietta store does suckass. :)

depends on the state. in MO the insurance company decides whether or not to fix it until the damage reaches 75% of the vehicle's value. I cleared the bar by $1300 :D so they didn't have a choice anymore...

btw: the damage may or may not've been worse if he hadn't turned. depending on his wheelbase, he might've just hit you with the axle/suspension instead of the tire which, in turn, climbed up. the axle/susp would've pushed you harder but wouldn't have allowed the tire to climb (i.e. less threat to your life) but the hit would've been more forceful in pushing you forward.

I grew up close to the sticks and a few of my friends have lifted trucks (some of them have evolved into show trucks with more than 26" of lift between body and susp and 48" boggers) though I don't think that banning the lift kits will help much. the problem is that there are far too many loopholes within the system. for example: a friend actually went and ordered a specific truck with specific options from a Ford dealer and was able (due to his weight, height and options) to register it as a semi. semis do not have exhaust, tire or height restrictions around here (for the most part). as such, with a little creative work by himself and myself, he has a truck with 54s and 24" of lift that would be legal to drive on the streets (though he doesn't now that its reached the level it has).

there should be a special license designation/program for lifted vehicles and restrictions placed on all vehicles rolling on public roadways, but until that happens most other measures aren't going to do much beyond instigating contempt and "creative" interpretations of the law

i bought mine from Rick Case in gwinett. No haggling nothing, paper was easy to sign.No problemos. Found the car i wanted on their webpage, sticker was on the window for 18,050, i went in told the sales goober i would give them 16,500 and the deal was done. I test drove it, it only had 2 miles from PDI i suppose after test drive when i took it home it had my lucky number 7 miles on it. I feel like i got an alright deal, sure i could have found better but im an impulse buyer if i want it i get it. I have a 4.9% apr, wish i would have waited for the 0% s*** that happened when the 02.5s and 03 came around, but i like the first year run things they had in 02, like the cupholders and different wheels and no sidemarkers, and roof rack and all the other small things. I love my p5 wouldnt trade it for anything.....except a 04 mystic cobra
