(boom01) Sorry to hear that, post some
pictures if you could,... what do you plan
to do? Claim it on your insurance?

Note: I've already got a body place I used
years before here in Okinawa (Name, place,
phone, etc.) keep that data tucked away
for just such a case or me or the wife get
into an accident.

Good luck, and are you going to file a police
report? When we lived in Missouri if you filed
a police report, the county would reimburse
you 20% of the cost of repair if it was vandalism
of any kind, graffiti on your house, stolen bicycle,
etc. to include cars damaged by crime and / or
Mother Nature.

Peace!(rei)

Someone needs to come up with an invention that would send a 600V shock if something scratches the paint and touches the sheet metal.

Sorry to hear dude. :(

That blows -- I feel for you. Since buying my 5 in late May, I am still in the phase where I park it at the end of parking lots faaaar away from any other vehicles, giving myself long hikes entering/exiting the supermarket, home depot, etc. I wonder how long that will last ... I've also washed it by hand every 3 weeks, applied a coat of wax (man, is THAT a lot of work), and had the 3M paint shield put on the front. If someone keyed my 5, I think I'd be in tears.

that hurts. We have mazda5 2006. I have one dent on the passenger side door hit by a frizbee thrown by the little one, a gash in one of the alloy wheels (daughter-learner driver), a big scratch under the side sill for running over a curb (charged to me). scratches in the doors from children's jacket buttons... etc. Every 'battle scar' is documented.

But if someone keyed my car, I will have it repaired immediately. The scar is not worth remembering.

I just got keyed too... one whole round around the car...

WTF with these people... (eyeballs)

FUXKING GOT NO DICKS.

I don't want to go thru insurance... because it leaves record and a good excuse to double my premium. NO, i'm clean, no tickets or claim ever.

Wrong!

1) call police NOW! File Report
2) Claim it, why the hell do you have insurance in the first place, this whole "raise my rates" is B.S. NOT TRUE, ask your agent first hand that is against the law if they penalize you for USING thier service, ....
3) If it's a 'crime' they CAN'T raise your rates.
4) If it was YOUR dumb ass that hit someone, yes they can raise your rates.
5) Raise your rates does not apply in all situations.

Peace!(rei)

yeah that sucks. my cousin has a msp and his car got keys in like 3 different places. it sucks

I guess I will speak with my insurance rep first... luckily we never claimed anything with this insurance firm for a decade...

It happens in a private plaza... Not sure if the cops want to do anything... UnLESS i spot someone who did it. But i did not...

So what others have done? I have searched on the internet, seems like most people pay out their own and repaint the cars theirselves, since they all say forget it by doing it with touchup pen, eventually it will rust out, also looked uglier than the scratches.

Sigh.

Go to wal-mart and look for a product called quixx. Its the most expensive scratch removal product and i've used it before on a key mark where i could put my finger nail through it. The quixx worked and it made the paint look new again....worth giving it a shot instead of body shop. Its like $20.00.

Depends on your deductible. I used to not ever make insurance claims and have slowly learned over time to just get it fixed. That's what insurance is for. Sorry to hear that you have to mess with this. I still park far away from everyone. In my house we call it "parking in Egypt". (dance)

X2

and that is why I got my alarm done, whew installed it myself and I'm STILL adjusting the settings, but worth it, anyone gets near my rid, they get a warning, touch it and my key fob beeps like crazy, even through 4 feet of concrete walls, I still get my key fob to tell me when anyone is close. That and I can see my car 21 feet from my window (Yes I paced it off, LOL!)

Peace!(rei)

Is that a two stage thing. A buddy of mine had this stuff that was two products. He noticed a scratch on mine and told me he had a fix for it. I was like whatever give it a try. It worked like a charm. He said it was around $25 but worth every penny.

yep. Thats it. I never seen something like that take out a scratch that you can feel with your finger nail. Usually you got to paint if you can feel it but that stuff worked wonders.

Man that sucks!! I was at the local swap meet in Napa someone keyed/knifed my left side pass window during the 20min I was gone. The marks looked fine they seem to have come from a knife. There were 3 horizontal lines and two vertical. They must have tried to break the window but were unsuccessful.

Yup, I agree, sounds like a break glass job... hey did your car alarm alert you that someone had smacked the window by sounding a beep on your key fob? If so did you came running back to catch them?

Peace!(rei)
