Car decision

Ok. My friend is either going to get a Ford Focus SVT or a Mazda 3. Personally I like the styling on the 3 better, and the s trim seems to be about equivalent on performance and cheaper. So I tell him 3, but he doesn't know if he wants to buy a first year model. What do you guys think of your first year 3's? Any problems more so than an SVT might have? Did anyone compare these vechicles? Thanks.

I would never buy first year cars. i would wait until the 2nd or later year models. but thats my honest opinion..my friend has a silver svt focus and i think its great, he has a few mods and the car rides smooth as a mercedes, havent rode in the 3 yet though

Either way, they are both nice cars. I would test drive them both and go from there. Bare in mind too, that if you want to mod, there are manufacturers who make parts for whatever car he chooses.

Yeah, you guys make good points. I guess I was just all biased since my protege has been great for me. I'll stop harassing him for the Mazda and just let him decide on their merits.

I have 6000 miles on mine. You can check my posts. I have had a few minor problems. But, at this time I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. In fact, we have another 3 on order. Early May delivery. :D

Mazda 3, a whole lot of car for the money.

My Mz3 HB is the 72nd car I've owned and I had no hesitation buying it. I've had zero problems and doubt if I will have any problem with my sexy MZ3 HB. My last new car was a first year also, a '98 ZX2 and I had 5 1/2 years of trouble free driving.

m3 is always safer than focus.. a focus rolled head over wheels infront of me once when i was driving on the highway..
