Car covers....

Does anyone use one on their MP3 or have any good advice about it. I am tired of having to clean about 10 spots of Bird poop all over my car every day and my damn neighboors cat loves to sleep on my hood too so no more scratches.... I think...

Thanks

JcsMp3....check out this site http://www.carcoverworld.com/ they handle CarCraft covers...there is like 9 different types for every application...depending on what you want to protect your car from....whether or not its an inside kept car or one that is outside all the time....

but you are sooooooooooo right...you need to keep that cat off of it....I have personally seen what a cat can do....a neighbor had to have his 1956 T-Bird completely repainted because of this very thing.....it was SERIOUSLY pissed.

we didn't see the cat around after that either!

I've found it very difficult to find a custom fit car cover to fit our cars. I've ordered one from two different companys. Calcarcover, and CoverKing. I gave them both the EXACT dimensions of my car, and neither one of them fit very well. One was too short in the back, and the other one was too short in the front. No one is going to have a template to make one for our cars, because they are so limited. So I think the best thing to do is to just get a generic one that's large enough to fit. Also, I've found that many times, even if the company says they are waterproof, they are not. And you will end up having to take it off and clean your car every time it rains. The only cover I have found to be "truly" water proof is the Stormshield fabric made by Coverking. It costs a little more, but I think it's worth it.

Swimmer, you dont' need to give CarCraft any measurements for your car....they already make a SPECIFIC cover for our cars. OBVIOUSLY the cover for the MP3 would be the same as teh cover for the Protege....and they make one for the P-5 as well.

Obviously??

Maybe they do make a cover for our car. I haven't tried them yet. But why would it be the same as a regular protege??? We have a larger spoiler, larger front air dam, and ground effects. It's not going to fit the same. Not even close.

maybe we should get one thats made for the P5. its going to be a little big. but the extra room will account for the front dam and spoiler and ground effects. MAYBE i dont know.

because the MAJOR deminsion in making covers FIT a specific car is its length, its heigth, width, and its profile....THESE things do not change between the MP3 and the standard Pro. its not like the covers are so incredibly tight that the difference in the air dam or the spoiler will make it NOT fit.....

and remember...the P-5 is actually SHORTER than the standard Pro or the Mp3....yes its taller in the rear...and all that material would just bunch up on the back window and trunk....and flop around in the wind....not something you want, at least not in MY opinion.

AND BTW...if you would go to the link that I put in my first post...and would select the year...( 2001 ) and when you get to the MODEL selection...if you bring up the PROTEGE and go to its listing of all the covers....you will notice at the top of the screen it says PROTEGE MP3....they are catering to US...and not the standard Protege....thus the cover for the standard pro may be a little loose...but fit the MP3 better.

here is the URL for that specific page if you care to check it out.

Anybody know where I can get one of those drive in plastic portable tarp garages. I would like one for when I'm at work and have to park outside in the parkinglot. I would feel less guilty when I went out on the road and bad weather is in the near future but i live in MN so that happens alot.

are you talking about one of the inflateable ones? or one that has poles like a tent? seems a bit inconvienent either way.....lot of work that is....not to mention they would be like a KITE and be hell on a windy day....:D

Sir Nuke

Did you actually order one from this carcoverworld place? Have you actually seen it fit on an MP3?

I have not seen one on an MP3....I have seen and had a Carcraft covers though....they are TOP NOTCH...and make their covers from custom patterns for the specific cars...not GENERIC fitted covers.

One with tent poles and cement blocks would keep it from blowing around. It is for in the parking lot where I work to protect my car.
