name: michael franklin

why my car? i graduated high school in may of 03. my dad's best friend offered to build me a supercharged 88 m3 as my graduation present, but instead they asked me what kinda car i wanted because im picky about alot things. i had no answer. my dad's friend went along and built the car. the stats were 326whp and 332torque. 2000 e36 m3 engine with a custom supercharger and 35k miles on the engine and tranny. alot of internal things were done, but im not listing because too many parts to list. stripped interior with 2 recardo racingseats, no ac, no power windows, no power locks, and no back seats. total cost of the m3 was $18k. i had to pay for parts only and no installations. the car was bought without an engine for $3400 and the other $14600 is engine and body work. the car was built within 3 weeks, and i had the m3 for about a week in a half. i passed my mom on the highway doing well over a hundred, and that is how i lost that car. i was really mad about it, but they were right about me not needing the car because i would probably kill myself in it. so my dad's friend took the car back and sold it for $35k to $40k to some guy in florida who made it into a race car in september of 03. in late july of 2003 i had to get a car before i went out to cali to spend time with my now ex girlfriend. so within a weeks time i test drove just about everything within the $18k price range. i was limited to getting only a 4 cyclinder. i wanted a r6 at the time, but it doesn't make since to have a motorcycle as a daily driven vehicle. i didn't like anything except the protege. didn't like the protege5 because its a hatchback and i didn't get a mazdaspeed because there were none in my area. then they had 3 2002 mazda protege's that they wanted to get rid of. two lx's and one es. the es was listed for 20k and some dollars(fully loaded with everything). it was the only 5 speed es that they had. we took out the cassette player and i paid $15k even for it, and i told myself to not spend over $1500 on this car. i picked this car mainly for its looks, and that it handled better than any other stock car, such as a civic ex, sentra gxe, corolla s, and a mini(not s though)(im not including the srt4, wrx, or se-r spec v as being stock because its a modded car). now its a year in a half later. have a couple mods, and im pretty happy with the car. now im only adding a couple more mods to it, and im going to pay it off and try to get another car. i love my protege to death and i take care of it, but i do want something alot faster. so thats my story. its a great first car and daily driver.
jobs: work at blockbuster video for another 4 weeks and ymca alpharetta.
plan: after sway bar, strut bar, and header im finished with modding my car.

Well then, my name is Kelly Wilson, I'm 30 yrs old and live out here in the great southwest state of New Mexico, the land of ghetto'd hondas and lowriders(in which there are some pretty sick one's), but never the less there are some of us mazda guys out here! After years in retail, I'm going for my associates in machine tool technology right now, and in my 2nd sem out of 4 needed. Hopefully will be doing some cool stuff afterwards, especially car related, some wait and see.
I have a 02 silver P5 which I bought in Minneapolis on Aug 01 before moving down to NM. Have been in Minneapolis for 5 years studying music, specifically bass performance and studio performance, and gigging in town professionally for awhile. Hadn't really done much to cars before, just been in to detailing and cleaning up exteriors, not much on engine stuff or knowledge of any of it. I LOVE my P5, it's such a great car and haven't had any problems yet since I bought it, car has 58k miles on it.
Mods on car now:
Injen CAI, 2 1/1" cat back w/ hayame muffler, 03MS splitter under stock lip(from 505zoom), grounding kit from ebay, Pivot shift light, WW CF EVO hood, shorty antenna(from ebay),JDM look headlights ( done myself), DGM eyelids, shaved side mouldings, yokohama avs es100 rubber, DaveB polished gauge rings.
Things I need to do to it right away:
LOWER IT!
I'm real in to car detailing and spend way too much time cleaning, but it's a little dusty out here in the desert(go figure), so it's justified.

Glad I hooked up with this forum, you guys know almost everything and have given me great ideas! Thanks to you all! (2thumbs) Especially 505zoom for his knowledge and advice! Check out his car if you haven't yet!

What's up guys.. My name is Mike. I'm 21 years old. I'm from Staten Island, NYC. I love the city, I was born and raised here!

Hobbies: *Women*,Cars,Gym,Music.. typical... I love going out to bars and drinking, you can call me an alcoholic if you want lol....

The first car I ever owned was a 94 Ford Taurus.. What a piece of s***! I had a head gasket leak and just drove the car around for 20,000 miles with it. You could hear the crank turning and the piston screaming for oil haha... Well it was a ford and I didn't care.. In Sept of 01' I finally got the Protege. I decided to get the LX "SE" It offered the 2 liter motor and sport package.

I'm into NA, Turbo, and just about any japanese domestic car. The mods you don't see in my sig are:

denso plugs, magnecor wires, and shaundarbie leather shift boot

I currently go to St. John's University and am getting my bs in telecommunications. I currently work as a legal assistant at a real estate officer and am a loan officer at a mortgage company. I plan on going to school for bartending this summer just because I always wanted to do that.

Hmmm thats all i can think of for now..

Well my first car was a 1970 orange Dodge Charger with a 383 bored out. On top of the 383 sat and Carter AFB 4BBl on top of an Edlebrock high-rise manifold. It had a 727 tranny with a shift kit. Passed everything but a gas station. So I also had a 1991 B2200 truck at the same time. Didn't do much to it. Couldn't afford to.

Gave the truck to my Dad and traded the Charger for a 1986 IROC-Z.

A white Iroc with the 5.7 TPI with a hypertech-chip & headers. Shift kit in the auto tranny as well. Limited slip out back. 0-60 in 5 sec if I could get traction.

Hydoplaned the Iroc in a rain storm and sold the wrecked car and bought my Ninja in 1993.
I'm on my second engine on the Ninja and have also hit a deer on it. Rebuilt it. It went from black & red to a custom Kawasaki green, Boyd purple and appliance white airbrushed paint scheme. I have lightened it up to under 300 lbs wet. I now have airtech race fairings. Stage 3 jet kit on one set of carbs. MUZZY header and exhaust pipe. Shaved a bunch of other useless weight from it like the center stand and such.

Its sitting in the garage now cause it needs rings, no compression.

Had the Ninja as my only ride for a few years until I bought a 1980 fullsize Jeep Cherokee with an AMC 360 V8. That got 10 MPG on the highway. I lifted it 3" with Rancho and the fenders were cut for bigger BFG mud terrains. There was a ton of stuff that I did to that beast. It would go anywhere I had the balls to take it.

Got married and the wife had a 1966 Mustang already. http://www.cardomain.com/id/swet66

Sold the Jeep for a 1992 Dodge Dakota. To keep this short here is a link to my cardomain page for the Dakota. http://www.cardomain.com/id/rednecks_b_us

Also aquired a 1971 Honda CB750 with a 900 big bore kit. I am in the process of making a custom chopper out if her.

Here is a picture of Gladdas with the old tanks. I have since welded on a 6 gal set of flatside fat bobs with aircraft caps. I have done a ton to her so far.
Gladdas%20W_old%20tank.jpg

Oh Gladdas is her name because your ass is glad when you get on and glad when you get off.

Hi I am Viktor 22 y/o
Me/my family immigrated here from Moscow Russia back in 1999, and we just got our american cintizenship.
I graduated from Clark University, with Biology/Pre-Vet major in may of 2005. I have way too many hobbies to list, but the major ones are Music/Cars/Dogs/Photography.
My first car was a 94 probe GT that i loved to death. I have never really done anything to it, since all the money went to repairs. That's not to say that it was too unreliable, it was just showing its age and needed time put into it which i did not have. Overall it kicked ass owning that car and i would get another one as a project car in a heart beat (money/time permitting).
My second car was my black P5 that i got used with 11000 miles on the odo.
I have since then put a lot of miles on it as well as spent a lot of money(by my standards) on "slightly modding it". You can see a list of mods in my sig.
I love the P5 and got it after a long and painfull search for a replacement for my probe. My top choice for a while was celica GT, but as sad as it was i was not able to find one with manual tranny that would fit my budget. The other top choice was a Pro ES since i really liked my friends ES (he is 2001ES here on the forums although he posts rarely). When i could not find any manual ES's i really started to get annoyed, but finally i found my P5 and the minute i saw it i knew that it would be mine.
That was my long and boring storry about me :D

I might as well be the one to bump this thread :)

My name is Andrea (27), I'm in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and I've been a car nut for as long as I can remember. When I was 4 yrs old, we were waiting for my grandparents to pick us up at the airport, and just the way the concourse windows on the 2nd floor were, you could only see the bottom third of the vehicles. I picked out their vehicle based solely on the wheels. (first) I've been that crazy ever since.

I learned how to drive on my parents' '85.5 diesel (no, not a typo, they only made them for a couple years) Ford Escort, with a gear-shift that was looser in gear than it should have been out of gear. Despite being able to nearly feel the wind through the rust in the rear door, and reciting the motto "I think I can" when 'accelerating', I loved that car. It had been in a roll-over (prior to us owning it), and tried to push a semi out of the way (boom07) , but it just kept going. I also think that's where I got my love of diesel from; whenever a pull up beside a diesel ram... well, we won't go there. (butthump)

My first vehicle was a brand new '97 Escort. Never did anything to it because I ended up selling it 7 months later when I went back to school. Also at that time, modding a car hadn't even crossed my mind (crazy, I know :) ). For a while I drove my parents' vehicles again - 91 diesel jetta (aka Smoky Joe), and 91 chev caprice.

My second car was a 93 Saturn, which I bought from the original owner with 360,000 KM on it. The car ran like a dream, and was good on gas. The only reason I ended up selling nearly two years and 25,000 KM later was because I knew a major expense would come along sooner or later, and I didn't want to be there when it did. Ended up selling it for as much as I paid for it. :D

Started doing some serious research on which vehicle to get, and looked at a new saturn, the PT, WRX (still love this car, and want to get one someday), Vibe, Matrix, and of course, the Protege5. No F*cus was included in my search as I HATE these cars; Ford lost their last tie to me when they got rid of the Escort. After comparing value for money, looks, etc, I took a P5 for a test drive and was hooked. Signed the papers a few days later and took my automatic mid blue baby home in March '02.

Long story short, I ended up having an issue with the tranny that the dealership could not fix, despite replacing it (not mechanical problem) under warranty. I was really torn because I loved the car but couldn't stand the problem any more. Happened to luck out and traded it in even-steven on EXACTLY the same car (yr, colour, options, etc) except stick in Nov '03, and I've been happy ever since. And this blasted modding bug has bitten me HARD. (thumb)

So far Morrigan has: AEM SRI, OBX header, Magnaflow cat-back, NSN motor mounts driver and front (pass. waiting to be installed), B&M s/s, kartboy bushings, exhaust hangers and bronzoil bushings (waiting to be installed), MPV wiper stalk, tinted tails, hood deflector, bluebatmobile eyelids, custom oil cap and battery tie-down, '03 headlights, 03.5 MSP RH's (cabpatch) on falken ziex's, and the list just keeps growing. I haven't totally decided if I'm staying N/A, but if I do ever go F/I, it's a few years off. After the rotary swap :D

I'm Alvaro, (16) i was born in Colombia and came to the US 3 years ago, my family has owned Mazdas since we were back in colombia, we owned an 1.3L Allegro (Protege), etc etc, and I am a high school student (11th grade)

I first started to drive with my mom's '99 Protege LX, which after year and a half of owning it we traded it in for a 2003 Tribute LX-V6, and i started saving for a MX-6, but i got a chance to buy a Civic in almost perfect conditions exterior, interior, and mechanicalwise, so i bought it, my mom paid for a 6 month insurance policy because she was proud of me because i managed to save oney to buy a car, and she gave me a new CD/MP3 player which i installed by myself :)

I hope i didn't make you feel bored to death when reading this
