*Questions, suggestions, tips, about the Mazda 5/Premacy Car Alarm installation*
************************************************************
Thought I'd start a car alarm installation thread in hopes of getting some help with this processes from my fellow 5/Premacy owners, wish me luck! (usa)

WHY install a after market alarm?
Here are a few reasons, if you say NO to any, then you might want to look into it:
1. Does your OEM alarm allow you to roll down your windows, let the heat out and not worry about your radar detector or lose change going missing from the side pocket because the alarm sounds as anyone aproaches the vehicle and blasts them with a very loud siren?
2. Does your OEM alarm alert you while sitting in a crowded theater mid movie that someone has just broken the glass of your car and took your favorite collection of Elvis CD's in all of the thieves 11 seconds of inconvenience?
3. Now that your car has been backed into at the parking lot, does your OEM alarm tell you that you were the victim of a hot and run?
4. Does you OEM alarm have radar that lets the fat ass lady and her big ass shopping cart to stay the F away from your car? (I love that one
)
Okay, I could go on and on... and I've said NO to all of them and guess what, that takes care of ME. If you do or don't want to read the rest, that's fine, but as I get time to take pictures, write testimonial here, I'll add little by little what I did to install my alarm, hope it helps someone some day.

So I've bought the Crime Guard 750i5 Car Alarm (CA) and just started to read the installation manual. Don't think I can get it all read in one night. (unamused)
Just look at one page, it's a bit, but worth doing it right! (attn)
== Okay so that is how I started out, daunting huh? I was so scared to start this, but read on... it get better...
MYTH #1:
"I was told by a local car audio installation shop that such an installation is impossible. The Mazda 5 and Premacy are not the same"
TRUTH:
Car alarm installation is not that hard, it is more time consuming than anything, IF, you've installed a car stereo, AMP, or other like item, the CA is not that hard, just takes time, took me 6 hours, with a 1 1/2 hour lunch break and messing with a few other things.
(POINT #1: Take your time)
MYTH #2:
"Oh, anyone have the wire guide for a Premacy / Mazda 5?"
TRUTH: There is no need for a detailed wire guide, UNLESS you plan to go against TheMAN's great advice down below, i.e. IF YOU DON'T NEED REMOTE START, DON'T F-N INSTALL IT! (bowdown) thanks TheMAN for that great advice.
(POINT #2: DON'T install things you DON'T need)
MYTH #3:
"So, here starts another 'How to' / OMFG I can't believe I'm going to try this myself project!"
TRUTH:
It's not that hard, not as hard as installing a stereo IMO and just under installing a power amp and a sub woofer box. Just have confidence and
(POINT #3... READ THE DARN MANUAL, I know it's dry and confusing at first, look at what I did, color code, LOL!)
MYTH #4:
"Do I have to install every option that comes with my alarm?"
TRUTH:
NO! See my note in the picture below about the starter disabler ?? (Well Dah, it says NO!)
MYTH #5:
"I'll have to get this installed and it'll cost too much and void warranty."
TRUTH:
NO, LOL! the OEM pager alarm here in Japan is $1,450.00 ! i JUST SAVE $1,250.00 !! IAW the books and a quick e-mail to OMEGA too:
http://www.caralarm.com
It's no worse than installing an after market radio. (FYI don't install on a leased car, yes it will void the lease!.)

So, as you'll read below from other post prior to my 'clean up' I was scared to do this, trust me it's not that hard. Now go back and see if you NEED an alarm that fills the requirements YOU NEED IT FOR. I SURE AM GLAD I DID IT !! (headbang)
Peace!(rei)
