Can't boost over 5-6psi PLEASE HELP

so let me get this stright.....so if you boost above 5psi in open loop operation you read lean...right? but if you boost after your in closed loop your fine? right?
what does you car do when you drive normal like 1/4 throttle and go through the gears with no boosting? does the n/b a/f just bounce back and forth? also have you pulled your plugs to see how the plugs them selfs are burning? i would check that out...
not trying to make you do more work but save your engine. dont stress out too much over it....clam down and think about the install and if anything could of went wrong. plus you can always drive it without hurting it, just dont boost at all!!!!!
i do it all the time when im just driving here around locally.

no its going lean no matter what...one time i did the closed loop test (3rd gear high rpm pull) and it worked, mustve been a fluke.

yes it normally just bounces back and forth, or at least kinda bounces...not all the time but a lot of the time.

no i havent pulled the plugs...what would they have to do with the AF ratio?

believe me ive went over the install over and over and over...ive reconnected ALL the wiring...i thought maybe i ****** up the wiring when i extended the first o2 all the way around the block, but i didnt...

here are some more pics of my fuel lines...maybe i ****** up here...no one in town had any braided line in stock, so i had to use 3/8 fuel line...what i did was cut the line, then peeled back the rubber to expose about an inch and a half of the plastic inner lining, and then i stuck the inner plastic into the 3/8 hose and clamped it off...no leaking whatsoever...also there are no kinks in the line.

right now im running 4psi with no problems...ive messed around with the gears and rpms and no matter what (dig or roll) i dont go lean unless i shift.

here is the picture of the way my MBC is setup, though i doubt it has anything to do with anything even if its setup wrong.

So if you don't have a fuel pressure guage....you have no idea if you are supplying enough fuel at boost?? How did you set up the FMU? (just asking)

you dont adjust the FMU...it just supplies 10psi of fuel for every pound of boost...the only way i figure out if ive got enough fuel is through the AF guage, which is showing lean.

if your running lean you will be able to tell by looking at the plugs, also if they look nice and dark browish-black then you know you might not be running as lean as you think. just a thought....

I'm sorry, odviously the Vortech FMU and the BEGI FMU are different that way..the BEGI has an upper boost limit dial that if set too low could cause what you are experiencing.

it very well could be your a/f gauge! i know it sounds dumb but i wouldnt rely on that s*** to tell you weather or not your running lean. does anyone... or any shops around there have a w/b a/f you could borrow?

this is my reasoning with that though: at 4psi the AF guage seems to work, meaning it goes rich when i floor it, and lean if i let off or shift (for a quick second until i reapply the gas), so why wouldnt it work at 5, 6, or even 8 psi? i know mike (ghostp5) was running 9psi almost daily with the identical setup to me.

hoping to see mp5jeff here sometime tonight he normally knows his s*** big time.

borrow a wideband dude(or buy one, ive seen some for 300 bucks new), never rely on those narrowbands...most of them can not show that you are running rich anyhow...also are the any signs of running lean besides the a/f gauge(white smoke out of exhaust, etc..)

i didnt know there were other signs....no white smoke, nothing else i can think of. let me know some other symptoms. the thought had crossed my mind that maybe i wasnt running lean, but i have no way to tell.

if this guage worked for mp3skaternc why wouldnt it work for me though? im not trying to avoid spending the money i guess i could afford it next paycheck for 320 bucks, i would just hate to spend the money if i didnt need to...

you dont think it might be the FMU?

no, if you hooked the fmu up right it's fine, i would bet money the gauge is incorrect. If it truly bothers you, just snag a wideband, the link i showed you is the best price ive found for a new(good) wideband.

well of course it bothers me lol...i cant know for sure if i am running lean or not and i could blow up the motor.

with all the troubleshooting ive done i bet ive hit lean like 20-30 times for one or two seconds each time..you think ive damaged anything?
