Can't boost over 5-6psi PLEASE HELP

what if he just added a fuel pressure regulator? and dumped more fuel that way as a temporary fix?

matthew have you triend contacting linuxracer as well? i know he replaced all kinds of s*** on his turbo mp3.. maybe he has an idea?
i pmmed him today no reponse yet, he might be working.

i have had this problem MANY times. add an inline fuel pump - your stock pump has enough volume but not enough power to feed the fuel required for the added boost.

i can understand your reasoning...but if mike can run ELEVEN psi on the stock pump, 5-6psi should be a piece of cake for the fuel pump - even a weak one.

so far the suggestions are:

bad fuel pump
bad fmu
worthless guage
bad wiring
bad vacuum lines

anything that couldnt be wrong?
If you can run 4 psi without a problem, it isn't bad fmu, bad wiring, or bad vacuum lines. . .because it is working up to 4 psi. You go from there.

AMEN!

Hey, I was just in Grayslake today (twice. . .)

Got the MP3 ECU code dumped onto a computer with a "promise" that they could reprogram it in the next 30 days. . .woohoo. . .we'll see. . .anyway, sorry for the threadjack.

matt.. did u ever install the a/f gauge in the car.. before the turbo kit.. to see how it read? most of those bulls*** a/f gauges will just bounce back and forth all the time and then when you floor it they will go rich.. what wires did you hook it up to on the o2?
pat.. u guys just installed one of these.. u remember what wire it was?

i dont want to be buying s*** and it not fix the problem. thats why im hesistant to spend 300+ on a WB guage only to find out i AM running lean...which although the wideband is a great tool, if i AM running lean, then that money was a waste of resources for the time being.

so far i have been told EVERYTHING could be wrong...at this point if i followed everyones suggestions i would replace just about everything but the turbo and manifold itself.

dont get me wrong, i appreciate everyones help, its just there is no concensus as to what is wrong.

i want a new inline pump anyhow - however - i just simply dont understand how mike could be boosting 11lbs and im boosting 5 and cant stay rich and he can...that doesnt make sense...just like this whole thing worked in jamies car and not in mine...i know im not great with this s*** but after all ive been through i feel i at least know what im talking about and hell no one seems to know what the problem is.

matt, be safe and get a fp gauge and a wideband, then you will KNOW what's going on with the car. the stock pump is fine for how much boost you are running.

get one of these :)

BTW - even with a fuel pressure regulator running pig rich, without an inline fuel pump you will run lean under boost. even with the voltage clamp AND a wideband. StuttersC had this problem - could not hit above 60psi of fuel pressure. you need between 88psi and 90psi of fuel pressure for 8 psi of boost..

matt when i ran my stock pump when i got to above 6psi my car ran lean. after getting walbro pump i have gone up to 9psi running rich. after thinking hard about it possibly is the problem. if anything, you can come down to houston and install my afpr on your car an see what happens. maybe someone closer to you can help you out.

damn thanks for all the help guys...now the consensus seems to be its the fuel pump.
