Canadian Price at Dealer

I got the price from the dealer today. They said is $28235 (I am in Calgary, Alberta btw). This includes Freight+PDI, Floor mat and block heater. I know that we are mandatory to add the block heater in, which is ~$110.00. So it works out to:

$26995 MSRP
$110.00 block heater
~$950.00 Freight + PDI

... so this tell me that the floor mats itself cost me $180.00??!!!

(this is before taxes and licence and tire levy. )


anyone in Canada has a confirmed price??? or I am getting ripped off??

btw, the official financing rate is 6.9%.

isn't that the floor mats is stock equipped in the MSRP?($26995)

$26995 is the official MSRP. But in terms of your freight charges and PDI, there seems to be a lot of different prices that i've been getting. Some dealerships try to scam you buy asking for a few hundred more in this area. I know for a fact when my cousin ordered her '03 protege 5, she paid $850 for freight and PDI. Gas and licening was $75 each. Making it an even $1K CAN.

Perhaps the $950 you mention includes the $100 admintration charges?

Please be aware that dealers will ask for a few hundred more...so, if they do so, try to ask them to throw in the block heater for you if it's absoulety necessary.

Anyway, i have always wondered if we, Canadians is suppose to be getting the embroded 'MAZDASPEED' Mats. This was posted in one of the threads 'Official Mazda info' (something along those lines). I can't remember who posted that, but he had stated that the 'MAZDASPEED' Mats is a standard feature!

In 2001, every Mp3 is Canada was expecting the 'MP3' embroided mats, but ended up getting the regualr 'Protege' mats. This was a bid disappointment, and I hope that Mazda won't be going this route again.

If they do, do this again, do not pay for the mats at $180CAN. At least get the regualr 'Protege' mats, and let Mazda know that you are disapointed.

Btw, how are you getting $28235?
$26995 + $110 + $950 = $28055CAN

yeah it looks like alot of us Canadians will be paying around $32 - $33K figure after taxes, etc. (depending on what they ask for Freight and PDI)

thanks for your info. The $28235 is the price including MSRP, Freight +PDI, Block heater, and MSP floor mats.

so this adds up to:

$26995 + $925.00 (approx. according to Mazda Canada website) +$110.00 (according to the dealer w/installation) = $28030

so... the floor mats is : $28235 - $28030 = $205.00 :wtf: ??


I really want to know the exact break down.... since I have a feeling that they are trying to rip us off by charging more within the Freight&PDI, the block heater and the floor mats...

I don't think we have to pay for the MSP floor mats, coz' as you said, it should be a standard equipment.

I think they're trying to charge more on those things since in Canada it is illegal to charge over MSRP.

any thoughts??

administration fee is if you get the dealer to find and setup the financing for you. at least that's what they say. lol

i admit, it's easier for the dealer to find the financing for you, however, that doesn't prevent you from finding your own financing. =)

Huh?

Why would the DEALER charge for metallic paint when it's not actually them who are applying it.
Seeing as the car is painted from the factory, and there is not option on paint, this should be bundled into the MSRP.

I purchased my car from Guelph City Mazda (Guelph, Ontario) and did not pay for Metallic Paint. I'd be cautious.

I'd say you have to pay a Metallic Paint charge on about 95% of the cars sold out there, which ranges anywhere from $100 - $750 (MINI).

However, I do not think you should be paying it on this car, as you don't have a choice on paint. Seems like a jab to me, I wouldn't pay it, and if he says it's Mazda that charges it, go somewhere else.

I know when I bought my 10AE Miata it had Metallic Paint and I never paid a cent. Shouldn't have to on this car.

Just to let you know guys, i live in quebec canada and i signed 2 of them before having to bail out due to the too long delay... of 6 dealers, only 2 whished to move on the price, and i am good bargainer, so i signed the first one at a big dealership, 27900 including 4 15 black wheels for winter and tinted windows, including transport and everything else, EXCEPT (100$ air taxe, 55$RDPRM, 15$ tire)
This one sold a car that he could never have so i decided to buy another one at a region dealer and i got a far better price:
27500$ + 4 15inch allow wheels + block heater, i did not got tinted windows... (EXCEPT ,TINTED WINDOWS, 100$ air taxe, 55$RDPRM, 15$ tire)
Thats really good price, this put the car to around 27200 transport and prep included without any other goodies

Something smells fishy. Paint should be factory pricing. Also, most of the colours are metallic, which means paying is a bit of a grab. There is n/c at Honda. Yet, all the Mazda dealers I talked to have quoted on this to me.

Oh, and dealers have claimed registration counts in the administration. Just another grab.

hi mmmmatheart, im in quebec city, i think i could get maybe another 100-200 off of the 27200 ... thats Impressing, im 23 and its my second protege brand new in 2 years and the other one is already paid so they dont laught at me when i come to the dealer anymore... but that doesnt helped to get a better price since the dealer where i bought the first car wasnt willing to give me a FREE SMILES! ;-)

Expect to pay almost 28000-28400 almost everywhere exept dealers in region...
the MSRP is 26995+ a maximum of 925$ for transport and preparation to the dealer discretion on protege (it can go up to 1150$ on tribute and MPV...) to that there is the RDPRM Fee around 55$ + 15$ for tire tax , +100$ for A/C tax,
thats the retail price that mazda canada give me be phone, note that the floor mats are included in this price!

i forgot: There are not supposed to charge you 100$ extra for metallic paint because unlike other proteges this car come only with metalic paint and its already included in the 26995$ , dealer are only trying to steal you some 100$ more....

Pardon my US ignorance, but would someone please explain the reasoning or requirements behind charging extra for metalic paint? I've seen paint options on cars that cost extra (Audi's pearl, for example), but not for regular metallic paint. Jim

C'mon, $105 is a joke already.

600 Spicy Orange Mica MSP's produced. That is it.
250 for Canada
350 for the USA

By comparison there will be 1,750 Black Mica MSP's of which none will be dealer sold in Canada.

So they build another 750 grey or yellow MSP's for Canada in 2003.5 with who knows how many for the much larger US marketplace.

2003 Spicy Orange Mica paint will not be:
1. Just another car.
2. Just another MSP.

The first lot will be the rarest of the MSP's, that can't be reasonably argued and to have so few of them on this very big continent, I am more than happy to chip in the "extra" $105 for that type of exclusive stature.

Here it canada it seems that to make their protege cheapers to rivalise with other domestic cars and honda civic/corolla sentra... they removed 1xx$ from the base price because thats the only thing stupid people look at and after that you go there and they ask what color you want, the only ones that doesnt have mettalic paint extra fee where RED and White in 2000 but now i think the red is "mettalic" and i dont know if there is still a white so thats another trick to make more money when you put your name on the contract...... ;-(

i mself put down a deposit for msp about 2 months now.....got a call from dealer couple days ago to check out the price....so i went there yesterday talk with this cocky sales guy hoursss...he won't even give a dime off msrp...or throw in any extras for that matter!!

925 freight/PDI
100 air tax
75 gas tax
195 admin
it comes up CDN 32533 on the road
is this really a reasonble price?? or should i go else where?
bucause this is the only dealer i put down my deposit would i even hav a CHANCE to get a msp somewhere else in the GTA area!??

Hopefully they won't jack up the price above msrp like the ones in my area were doing for the Mp3s (they were like jacking em up like 3-5K Canadian dollars) and people stll bought them...so hmm...
