Ok for all of you P5 Canucks out there with HIDs.

Our problem as all of you know :

When a HID kit is installed in our cars our DRL has to be disabled.... so we lose DRL and cops dont like that...

my questions is...

if we canadian cars do THIS MOD does that mean we can use turn on our foglights in the daytime to make it act like our DRL and have them on with the HID at night too?

Vince, I've had my HID's for 2 years now and I have yet met a cop that busted me for no DRL. Don't worry about it.

If you are so worried, do the fogs as DRL's or just turn on your lights everytime you drive..

I always drive with my lights on..

I only wish they came stock...

But we do have blacked out headlights, look much better than the chrome ones..

I've never even heard of cops caring, or knowing whether you have DRL or not. They are not mandatory on any vehicles as far as I know.

I just drive with my headlights on all the time anyways. From what I see the DRL is just the headlight without the ambers on, or the ability to turn on the fogs.

even if you have your DRL disable the front turn signal/parking light turns on with one click of the light switch. That is the same as DRL, it's like those dodge caravans with the orange DRL's I see all the time.

I got pulled over in Montreal last weekend b/c of my HID! He was in a van and I still blinded him. Good thing I dont' live in Canada, or else I'll get busted every night.....watch out guys!

thanks for all the replies guys :D

I was just wondering to see if theres any ways to use the DRL function other than the headlights.

Ok, you have 8000k HID's

That is too much, most HID's are in the 4-5 thou range...

You should be able to see until tomorrow with those..

I have no idea about montreal, but up here in T.O. there is a limit as to how bright you can go..

I have seen people with the rainbow effect lights get pulled over as well as people with 100 watt bulbs..

I ddin't know you guys who have installed HIDs have the DRL problem. But since I've installed my Philips 6000k from about half year ago, my HID has become my DRL. Everytime when I release my ebrake, my HID just go on by itself and it's exactly like my DRL. I know the down side is that my light bulbs may burn out quicker, but I am lucky to keep the DRL fuction.

My 1992 Dodge Stealth R/T (Canadian model) used the fogs as the DRL's stock. So if you're really worried, the fogs are sufficient enough.
