I think the stock Manifold is on the left and the JDM manifold is on the right. Do you see the valves on the intake side? At a certain RPM, these vavles open letting more air in, hence more power :D

All, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong... I can take criticism ;) .... SOMEWHAT  :D

Maybe they have a gradual opening instead of just wide open, letting more air slowly as the RPM's rise... hm... that could work too.....
the pic you have here is OF ONE MANIFOLD. it is just seperated.;)
the bottom plenum is on the left and the top piece is on the right. the throttle body is connected to the plenum on the left

it is a dual stage manifold with a VICS (variable inertia charging system)
allows air velocity to increase at low engine speeds . for improved low end torque and cylinder filling . higher volumetric efficiency
the plates will open via ecu controlled solenoid at 4750 rpm. it gives you a slight kick for two reasons.
1. it is no longer restricting the airflow thru the runner and
2. you will most likely at half throttle and load go into open loop allowing an addintional 10 -20 % more fuel thru the injectors depending on load, throttle , air flow, and gear selection
hope that helps.:D

Well, how are the cams working out? Do you feel any difference now that you have put some miles on the car?

That does make sense.... :D

Did I understand correctly? No more stumbling & hesitating with these cams????
If so Ill be calling Derrick to order a set today!

It's not just an increase in duration. The exhaust cam has more lift as well. I measure .020" on mine. My car is still normally aspirated and they were worth 7-8 HP as long as you have a better intake. The stock airbox sucks. Or fails to suck as the case may be. Bad design. I can't imagine that you FI MSP guys won't see a major power increase just changing over to a better flowing piece. I'm curious to see what will happen.
