Has anyone in Canada bought a CAI?? if so, how much did it cost?? and how much did it cost to install it?? I don't really have the space to do it myself..

So guy just quoted me over $500 for the CAI and installing...doesn't that sound expensive??

By the way...that's in Canadian dollars...

I don't care what kind of dollars it is...that is way to much.

listen...if you can use a screw driver and a small socket set YOU can install a CAI all by yourself...and all you need is a place to park your car...it takes NO ROOM to do this....its really a very easy install.

It was the first engine mod I have ever done, and it took me 1-2 hrs. and cost me $200 (USD) total.
good luck
BTW $500 canadian is :bs:

yah... installing an intake is no big task at all... if you have ANY experience w/ tools it will only take a half hour to two hours max... and all you need to pay for is the unit itself... no additional parts are needed for the install...

the first intake i installed was a custom one, made out of piping and parts from orchard supply hardware and autozone... cost about $30 US all together and gives better performance than some aftermarket units...

good luck man! and im sure if you need assistance you can find tutorials somewhere on the web if not on this board... and if all else fails... dont hesitate to ask for more help

peace

I bought the injen cold air intake from protegeonline.com...cost was $ 225 US and by the time it landed with customs ect it was $ 382 cdn, cost me $ 90 cdn to have it installed at Mantis Racing in oakville, ont.

So $ 500 with taxes is not bad...

They did a good job...and they loved the car :-)

i guess... if you say so..

i dont know the conversions from canadian to us or whatever... but i wouldnt pay more than $40 US to get an intake installed.... and thats only if i dont know anything about anything and want to be ripped off.... its about a half hour to hour and a half's worth of work.. if even that...

I'm tellin ya man.. installation is not hard... you should really give it a try yourself... unless your completely garage-illiterate :) or you REALLY dont trust yourself... (but beleive me.. theres really not much you can damage to badly whe installing an intake)

but i would suggest not paying more than MAYBE $50 US for the install.. MAYBE..

less would be more realistic...

peace
good luck

Thanks for the info...as soon as I get the benjamins for it, I will TRY (notice the caps) to install it myself...

one BIG tip/suggestion.....get the install instructions off of Protege5Online.com....they are WAY better than the ones that come with it.
