Do I need to worry about Mazda dealership voiding my warranty for any CAI except the MS CAI? If not, then which of these 3 CAI would you recommend and why?

CP-E
Injen
MazdaSpeed

I'm currently thinking about purchasing the CP-E because they specifically state that it will not cause CEL's, where as Injen's website makes no such statement and is worthless for anything other than part #'s. I know Injen's had some CEL issues originally, but can't seem to find anything recent that would indicate this is still the case.

I like the CP-E because, well, it's made by CP-E and I have no doubts it will be worth the money.

I like the Injen because of the price and the fact that some people claim it has higher gains then most other CAI's.

I like the MS because I will be worry free in regards to warranty coverage.

Thoughts?

I have the injen CAI and it doesnt throw CEL's. From what I hear mazdaspeed is currently no longer selling / installing CAI's. Therefore if you do install it, its at your own risk. In regards to brands, it really doesnt make a huge difference. AEM (same as mazdaspeed) / Injen / fujita / Cobb . . . all solid products. Cold air intakes are really easy to install. Was my first mod, first time under the hood of a car and it took me about 30 min only because I couldnt get the damn bolts off the resonater. You can also uninstall the CAI and replace the stock parts if you need warranty / dealership work done. Every dealership is different. People say that unless the part directly causes the damage then mazda cant revoke your warranty. This is true but mazda can say whatever they want and they certainly have a lot more money behind lawyers / etc. In most cases its not even worth your money / time /effort to fight back. That being said what i do is bolt on mods. That is, mods that are "easily" installed and able to be removed if needed. Bottom line is, if you mod it and bring it to the dealer, expect to lose your warranty.

Oh, I didn't realize that Mazda discontinued their CAI. That's probably a bad sign.

As for brand selection all I'm after is a good design that doesn't cause CEL's. I've heard good things about nearly all the competitor's out there, but after doing my own research I narrowed it down to a choice between quality (CP-E) and price (Injen)(...not to say Injen isn't quality).

So did Injen add an air straightener to their CAI to fix the CEL issues? This is the kind of stuff I was looking for when I went to their website...but all I found was part numbers and 2 pictures.

I kind of expected to have to take all the mods off everytime I go to the dealership, but was hoping to leave the CAI in place if people were finding that the dealerships didn't make a fuss. Which also sums up my interest in paying $330 for the MS CAI.

Yep I wanted to get the MS CAI but I leanred it was discontinued about 4 months ago or so. Ive been told that they will release a new version but its so easy to install / remove that I just didnt feel like waiting. Your right though it would be nice to not have to take it out. Spent 2 days taking my mods off just to have my service done. In regards to performance, to be honest it really doesnt make a big difference. From what I have seen Injen claims to have the most gains. Intakes really dont add much hp. In regards to the air straightener . . . im really not sure. To be honest ive never seen a CAI that trips a CEL. My friends got one of those cheap ebay ones and he doesnt have any problems either.
