Cabin Filter Clip

Hello!

I recently was changing my cabin air filter and the clip that holds the cover in place broke when I was removing it. What are my options for replacing this? It doesn't seem that the cover will stay in place without a clip of some sort.

Thanks for any help you can offer!(pissed)

To hold a piece of plastic in place?
Gorilla Glue.

The cabin air filter behind the glove box has a cover to to access the filter. The plastic clip that holds the cover on the cabin air filter box broke. The right side has notches so it stays in place(similar to the engine air filter box), however there isn't anything else holding the cover besides the clip that broke on the left side.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Appreciate any thoughts!

The clip that you are talking about allows you to open that cover by pushing in. That is the part that i believe that you are stating that broke off the cover. If that is the case i am guessing that a new cover would have that piece. I would try the junk yard due to the fact that the dealer is very expensive.

Can't you just put some duct tape on it? This is not supposed to be the most air tight/failure proof ventilation system. It is outside air that we breathe anyway.

If you want the original part might check with Med Center Mazda, they usually have pretty good prices on parts and such.
Got my cargo bars from them for about 100 dollars less then anyone else.

I would check with them or possibly a junk yard if gluing the piece back together will not work.

Made that same mistake myself a few years back and will try not to let that happen again. Tape wouldn't hold so I purchased a replacement piece online. I think it was about $40.
