Bye Mazda 24/7. Moved on to a new rig: Evo X

Congrats. Very nice car.

It would be cool if Mazda would make something to rival STI's and EVO's instead of just the WRX and the Rallyart.

Until then, great choice! Have fun!

uggh nice upgrade =). beautiful car. and only reason i would want to go to an sti is because i <3 my hatchback and would want another hatchback.. just with awd.

Agreed, I would miss the hatch aspect too much.

As for the OP...very nice choice. I was looking at the sti and evo during the evoVIII and 2 body styles ago sti, and I had chosen the evo back then (if I were to have gotten one). Evo just felt better somehow

Still, its hard for me to justify the price of either the evo or sti. Just seems like too damn much. Especially when you consider the options involved, base price can go up another $10k real quick

+1. Options are expensive. Fully loaded = another 10k just about.

i've driven two GSR's handling is great but the shifter is just garbage man. esp after upgrading to a short throw on the mazda its hard to like another shifter.

still like the MR i drove better than the GSR and my mazda, almost jumped but couldn't make myself. the seats alone in the GSR will make me buy one. those recaros are comfy! i guess ill still always be a sucker for the older evo's though. (dunno)

Nah the plates wouldn't work on the Evo and was very fitting for the MS3 as it was the repsonse that I typically got from those who thought it was just another little Mazda hatch.

I really consider the MS3 an excellent car and value especially when compared to the STI. The MS3 offers much better handling, steering feel and feedback, and I'm not convinced that sways, springs, struts/coilovers etc would fix the STI to make it better. The Evo is just so much more honed and focused right out of the box and was a very logical step from the MS3. Again it was driving the cars back to back is what did it for me. You can keep beating this arguement to death, arguing the merits of each on paper.

That being said, I do love the Subaru's looks and sound and do plan on picking up a 05-06 STI for a project car i a couple years.

I don't miss the MS3's ropey shifter, clutch, or torque steer, and so far don't miss the extra utility of the hatch. STI would be a decent choice if you felt like you absolutely had to have the utility of the hatch. I will give the STI this, that it's got an excellent gear box, with bolt action feel and engagement. The Evo's shifter isn't bad at all, and is a bit notchy but I actually really like it. Reminds me of my WRX when I had Kartboy shifter bushings.

i haven't driven the new ones, but i drove a few 05 STIs and an 06 Evo a while back and was much more impressed by the Evo than the STIs as well. all used cars and all modded, so it might not be a fair assessment, but i'm definitely looking into an Evo when i go to get rid of my speed.

grats on the ride, man.

I like it, one of these days I will own a boosted awd car..probably after the kids get older tho...congrats!
