Buying a new credit card smart key

I had a scare where I lost both my smart keys.Then I found one and now I found them both and want to buy an extra to be on the safe side.I've read where if you have 2 keys I can do it myself.I also thought I read I need to go to the dealer even with the 2 keys?I read to buy one on Ebay.Looking on Ebay I see Shells only for around $12 and others for near $200.Basic judgement tells me I need more than a shell.Even buying my own key and programming it myself am I still out over $150? Can It even be done myself or is it a dealer only thing?Could someone steer me in the right direction buying a key and programming it.Again its the credit card type for an 08 mazda CX9 Grand touring Thanks

These shells should be just a key blank, no electronics included. I simply don't think you can add a smart key fob by yourself as car manufactures have assigned unique serial key for each key fob for your car, and the car computer needs to add such info from this new key fob and perform all the electronic functions properly. So adding additional smart key fob would be dealers only job and could cost you $150 ~ $200!

If you only have one, you have to go to dealer for programming of second. Then buy a third on eBay and you can program the third smartcard yourself, and keep the 3rd in a safe location in case you lose another one. I have an 08 GT with the smartcard. I paid the dealer to program the 2nd card. Then I did the 3rd myself.
The keyblanks that are on ebay are fine as long as they have an rfid chip in them. Without the rfid chip those key's won't work even if they are cut correctly.

p.s. the third one that I have has a picture of a trunk (mazda 6) but that is the only difference and it works just fine.
