Butter Dunlop Tires?

Has anyone had to replace their Dunlops already? I hear those tires don't last long AT ALL!! I would like some information from you guys regarding this topic.

Thanks.

Heya enry,
Looks like people are getting 15-20k out of their Dunlops if they're lucky. Replacements on tirerack are about $130 per tire  ... A lot of people seem to be going with the Kumho ECSTA 712s which are about $40 cheaper per tire in the stock size.

When the time comes for me, I will probably go with the Kumhos, as they are a bit harder and will last a little longer, while still giving excellent wet/dry traction. I will also probably go with 215/45/17s if I haven't lowered my car at all. I like the wider tires; it makes the stance of the car badass! (yes)

I have researched this quite extensively. I have found while the sp 9000 are good tires, there are BETTER tires for less money. Long story short, I now have Yokohama Parada spec 2 215/40 17
This size looks and fits great. Grip is quite better in the dry and slightly better in the wet. Tire rack has them for about 100 bucks. Nittos look nice but do not hold up well at all. Do not buy nittos! Kumho 712 are nice but not quite the dry grip of the sp 9000 or the parada spec 2. The only other tire I would get would be The toyos (expensive) or the new kumho mx.

Just my theory as I looked into every tire that would fit themp3.

Overall, The parada spec 2s grip better than any other tire short of BF Goodrich G-force KDs. And anyone who knows tires knows how much those cost!\

Hey now.

It ain't over till the admin loses the pink slip!

I will have replaced the Dunlops one by one due to road hazards. My front two are replacements (one bought at LIST price after riding a bubbled tire for way too long, the other due to a nasty piece of road s*** that did a number on the sidewall. The left rear is next. It is plugged and will need to be replaced...as soon as TireRack gets more in. Mavis Discount Tire wanted 225.00 for one if I could wait five days. Tirerack was $142. delivered and the local tuner shop mounted and balanced for $15.

The Grassroots Motorsports test this month is worth the price of the magazine (let me say again, it should be on EVERYONE'S coffee table or bathroom magazine rack!). The Kumho 712s look very good as well as a couple of other tires.

MP3_4ME,

Can the Parada Spec 2 - 215/40 17 fit on our OEM Racing Hart rims too? I thought I have to stick with 205 to fit them. I am planning to get the Parada Spec 2 in the future, but I don't know too much about tire sizes and fit. So I'll really appreciate some good suggestion on what size of tires I should get for the Racing Hart rims to get better performance.

Thanks :)

well...it's time to reveal that i am an alien ...(rant) from the counrty which the tires i'm gonna change after sp9000s...i'll go for 205/40/17 or the same size with Federal S595tires...i have checked in my local stores for $120 ea...but there is a special price online which is $75+shipping...(CA plus tax)...

i'll say it's a good tire for that price range...if you have tight budget but sp9000s are worn out...you may think about that...they are made in taiwan! (thumb) and the treadwear is 240AA...they might last as long as our sp9000s or just a little less since ours are 280AA...

another choice is Nankang NS-1 which you may get the info. in discount tire stores or online...the tread looks good and price is great...
since they have only 16" or larger and offers only low profile like 45, 40...i consider them as at least high performance tires...also MIT...:)

15-20k???

ive hit 30k on my tires...and still have a lot of treadwear left.

i don't autocross, nor street race. but i do drive very "spirited"...maybe the roads here are a lot better than where you guys are at...or maybe im just lucky.
