Busted display

I bought my 6i about 3 weeks ago. The display was messed up when I bought it apparently, parts of the characters wouldn't show right or at all. A week later or so I did the throttle body ground mod. Now my display screen is blank but the radio still works. Also the lights for my recirc/fresh air button went out around the same time. ANy suggestions?

I checked the fuses, none are broken, but the radio fuse seemed like the metal was a bit corroded with something other than rust, so I buffed it a little and put it back. Last night it came back on, and then today it's mostly not on, with occassional signs of life. Is this a wiring problem?

Sure sounds like a grounding problem. Does the contol work that turns the lights up & down?

i've had similar issues in the past, and i've actually swapped fuses with something else just to make sure. for example, if its a 15amp (i don't remember) swap it with another 15. if the other function works and your display still doesnt, its not your fuse.

could be a loose cable in the back, maybe the previous owner had installed an aftermarket iPod adapter or something.

all else fails, take it to a dealer to have the LCD unit replaced. if its under warranty (you didn't say what year) they should take care of it for you, or at least tell you why it stopped working.

Just happened to notice that there is currently one of these for sale in the Marketplace, for $65. FYI.
