As the title says it, the burning smell I can smell coming from the vents. Smells like the saughtering iron smell. When you saughter 2 pieces of metal together. Dunno what it is and can't pinpoint anything yet. Any tips? suggestions?

I get the same thing when the car isn't moving for a few minutes, heater at full blast. I have no idea where it comes from.

I also get a heavy humidity smell coming from the vents after the winter. Kinda like water accumulates somewhere. Only way I found to prevent that is to use the top vents from time to time in the winter, not just the heater/defrost all the time. Strange.

Hey Glen,

Just a quick thought - Check your coolant level, you may have a leak. Not to say that this is happening, but for example, when you fry a head gasket you can get a burning metal smell.

Check you rad levels..

I used to have a car where the rad fluid would steam throught the vents for the windsheild..

That would suck if it's a rad piping prob, cause your whole dash will have to come apart.

I get it too, but I didn't notice it until I started messing around with the exhaust to install the headers.

Okay..went outside today. Checked coolant....the overflow had 3/4 left. So that's fine. No sign of leakage. The coolant hoses arent' cracked or anything. Checked under the car. Lo-and-behold..there was a garbage back stuck underneath my car. I am guessing it had melted on to the midpipe. Dunno if that could be causing it. But..that might be it. There's still a burning smell..but I'm guessing that's just the left overs of the garbage bag that's still attached to my exhaust. Hope that's it. Thanks

I had a garbage bag stuck to my car once and it caused a smell too, took it to the dealership and they charged me $60 to burn it off....i was like ****...i only wanted you to check what it was.....if it isn't the garbage bag try running the AC on full with the temp switched to heat....sometimes it's cause we havent used it in a while and creates a smell.
hope that helps
