Burning Oil?

Hi,

I have a 2007 MS3 with 11k miles on it. I've notice 3 times now that my car has been burning oil while idling.

I'm not talking about the normal grayish smoke when it's cold out and you're cars warming up. I'm talking about bluish smoke that reeks of burning oil. All 3 times this has happened, I drove it briefly, maybe 5 miles or so, then let the car idol for a few mins.

First time, I drove to my friends house to pick him up to go skiing, while packing the car I noticed it smoking and it smelt, looked over and his front yard was covered by this blueish haze of smoke. It was prob about 2000 through 2300 miles or so from my last oil change.

Second time, was the same day, but leaving the mountain. Mind you, this trip is about 100 miles each way. The car warmed up properly, but we stopped at the Burger King drive through. While waiting at the window my car again, was smoking heavily and it was billowing in the drive through window and I could smell the oil.

The final time was right after a fresh oil change from the dealer. I didn't mention anything yet, but around 2700 miles since my last oil change I went in, got the oil change and then had my car washed. I drove about 5-8 miles to a 7-11 to get some coffee and left my car running. When I came out, again huge haze in the parking lot and my car was billowing blueish smoke. I revved up the car a few times hard and the smoke cleared.

Now here is the problem. I CAN'T replicate this problem. I try and drive it 5-10 miles and let the car idle and nothing, so it's going to be hard to try and convince the dealer there is something wrong. & by no means is this a little bit of smoke, all 3 times it has happened, its a ton and stinks of burning oil.

I think that is oil that is pooled up in the intake manifold. It gets there via the PCV valve on the intake manifold.
This happens to me, also randomly. Do you do alot of Engine Breaking? I am reducing mine just to see results.

redrocketz - would it not smoke all the time if the seals in the turbo were gone?

There was a thread around here somewhere that had links to this speed6 owner with pics of manifold. He was installing a catch can.
