Bullet proof engines?

I am trying to get some info from the people who built there engines for turbo. I am looking to build my engine for 10 PSI daily driven, and about 15-20 at the track. I also plan to use the MPI piggy back system. I heard some horror stories about a Mazdaspeed engine build in this area that went sour. Just trying to see if anybody else has had any problems?

all you really need to strenghten the block is forged pistons and rods.....the block can handle this stuff, the only thing our block has trouble with is stopping pistons and rods from blowing out the side when the go..so the forged rods/pistons is pretty much all you need to build the motor

^^ what he said. the block and crank are tough as nails. JE pistons and Pauter rods are the way to go.

GO with CP Pistons. You'll be glad you did.
I have the JE Pistons (along with Pauter Rods) in my setup, but after hear about how quiet the CP pistons are, That's what I would go with. Supposedly, they have better quality. If I have to build again, CP is the way I will go.

where can i buy forged internals and for how much?
hey, a fellow Illinoisan!! welcome!!

we sell the JE forged pistons for $449 plus shipping and the Pauter rods for $749 plus shipping. on the rods if we do a group buy I can get a price of $699 for a set.

well, if you shop at protege garage, and assuming you DONT get in on the group buy then it would cost you $1198 plus shipping, plus the cost of new rings, and incedentals. like new gaskets. also you might want to upgrade the fasteners, but I dont have the price for these things.

thats if you do the labor yourself... but thats is all that is required... our block and crank are fine.

All this said, how much would it cost approximately to bullet proof the engine?
er.. you're auto yah? if so then you might have more worries than just bulletproofing the engine.

True. I want to boost but it's all adding up. I'm probably looking at 10K after it's all done. Tranny, engine and turbo.

yeah, if you dont plan on messing with the tranny then dont worry about going forged.... Pirana took the auto to the limit without hurting his pistons... of course I think the "spongeiness" of the auto helped keep torque from killing the engine. if I remember correctly with the hiboost kit he got up to 240whp. and I can tell you from personal experience it was way fast... no joke

just remember at the 14psi it took to get 240whp on an auto the tranny was starting to slip... 9-10 psi was way safer for the tranny... but of course a lot less power... but you can get the hiboost kit with the Haltech EBC for an upgrade, and its not too much... so then you could just turn it down for daily driving.
