Build Location??

the seat belts, air bags and ECU are the primary american parts (read : FORD) in the protege.

Just picked mine up today...The build location was Hiroshima Japan with 97% Japan, 3% US parts.
Actually that 3% is for US and Canadian parts.

Final Assembly Point: Hiroshima/ Hofu, Japan
Engine: Japan
Transmission: Japan

So I guess that 3% is when they slapped the tires on the rims.:D

I don't know for 2003, but for 2002 on the window sticker (which I have right here) it says - Engine: Japan.

yup...pretty sure they are all still from japan...they basically made no changes from 2002-2003, except for some styling cues...

the engine block is produced by Ford the rest is primarily Mazda and Mitsubishi.

If your not sure of something please don't post it. ALOT of misinformation is passed on this way. The FS-DE engine in ALL MAZDA design. THe only Mitsubishi parts are some solonoinds and stuff like that, due to Mitsubishi being such a large producer of them there things. Ford had nothing to do with the development, and Midsu had nothing to do with it.

definite answer is that our block is made by Ford. Ill try to take a pic of the Ford stamp on the block this wknd if i get a chance. N yes there is Mitsu in our cars. If u look around ur engine bay ull find their markings.

If you'll read my origanal post you would see that I said there were Mutsu. parts. But from Mitsubishi Electronic Corp, not the Automotive section of the company.

Do you mean the engine or the car? If you mean the engine than that depends. The 4-cyl is Mazda, the V-6 is a ford with the top end re-done by Mazda.
