2006 Mazdaspeed 6 GT
So, I have a 2006 mazdaspeed6 with a couple of mods done and am happy with how the car performs. My mods are cobb SRI, TIP, downpipe, and mufflers. these are the ONLY modifications that were made. I do have a FMIC on the way. what should i look into getting?

So, my question to yall is what should i look into next??

Thanks ahead of time for the adivice!

Get a tune, either CP-E's stanback or COBB's AP... thats the most important mod that will really bring out the performance of the speed and the mods you have added...

nice, yeah im really looking into the CP-E. not much on the AP ive heard good and bad about em for our cars. i think i need to look into motor mounts and spark plugs before this. what mounts should i get first and which plugs? ITV22s?

get SU Billet Aluminum Engine Mount & Solid Shifter Spacers makes it shift way better I also just put an order in for NGK Laser Iridium Spark Plug: ILTR6A-8G

off **********

what pushed you to get the iltr6a? i dunno which perform better compared to itv22s so thats why im asking

I also need to do more research on AP / Standback. I think my power modding will settle down with SRI, TIP, and a replaced TMIC. Maybe a test pipe. Once those are all finished I'd like to get a tune done to free up any leftover bottlenecks, maximize the performance, and reduce stress and increase the reliability of the engine. I probably wouldn't need a whole lot of customization after the initial tune, assuming it worked right, but the ability to tweak might be a nice bonus.

you need fuel pump internals if you plan on going with a FMIC setup. then after that get a reworked KO4 cause yours is smokin'.

Both statements are not true in all cases. First, simply running a front-mounted intercooler will not require an upgrade of fuel pump internals. To the OP, you will need to invest in something that can datalog to determine if you will need upgraded fuel pump internals (at any point, not just after a FMIC installation).

Second, while including new seals the reworked/rebuilt K04 does not change the seal design. Nor does it redesign the 2.3L DISI Turbo's PCV system. What this means is that while it may improve the user's smoking problem initially, in the end it is not correcting either culprit. With this approach, you very likely will see smoke again some point down the road. Think about it, the stock K04 had new seals at one time (just like a reworked/rebuilt K04) and it's obviously not succeeding in keeping your car from smoking. You have to fix the cause, not the effect.

You can't let yourself get into the information regurgitation habit.

EDIT: To address the question on why you would use Denso plugs instead of NGK I'm copying one of my posts from another thread.

Because of the high combustion chamber temperatures that turbocharged cars run, copper and platinum spark plugs are highly discouraged. Iridium is the recommended element. On some turbo applications, people have reported that platinum and copper have actually melted in the combustion chamber.

The Denso Iridium plugs are recommended because of their factory gap/range .030-.031". The NGK Iridium plugs come from the factory at .044" or higher. It is highly recommended that you do not manipulate the gap of a spark plug more than .012" from its native/factory location. Doing so can compromise the conducive properties of the spark plug.
