Buick Regal GS sports sedan brings performance to the TriShield brand

Alot of manufacturers have high long term maintenance. Do you want me to get started on a couple of manufacturers that I've owned with very high long time maintenance? What it comes right down to is that the Regal is just a rebodied Saab 9-3. How reliable are Saabs?

Not even close. The Saab 9-3 was built on the same platform as the OLD Chevy Malibu (pre-08 model year, Epsilon platform), although I'm told the only parts they shared were the rear lower control arms. The 08 and later Malibu could be considered an Epsilon 1.5.

The new Regal is on the Epsilon II platform and will be the second car in the US to use it. The Buick LaCrosse being the first.

Correct. The 9-3 and the Opel Vectra shared the same platform, but the regal/insignia rides on the epsilon II, as does the new saab 9-5.

I think the 9-3 is the only car still floating around on the original epsilon.

I just don't get the brand loyalty with the BMW guys. They're nice, but not "OMG end of the world!" nice. I see too many people trying to find a replacement for the MS6 and go too far upmarket. This would be a good lateral move if they choose to.

Oh I agree, this is a no brainer if you are looking for a MS6 replacement. But to think it'll be a "BMW" killer is just not so.

Afterall, I did buy the MS6 instead of a 3 series the last time around, and I'd do it again if I could. Just can't see why a Bimmer is worth the extra $$$ and hassle for "my" needs. The Speed6 served me well. But again, I got what I paid for too. I might have saved money, but it had it's share of issues as well. And with 49,000kms on it, it's even got paint peeling on it !?!? wtf?

I wasn't arguing it as a BMW killer, just as a modern MS6 with a few new techie features that would be nice additions to the MS6.
