2001 mazda protege mp3
I know I'm going to get flamed for this but I would like to know how hard it will be for the wiring part, I know there was some one who did a d 16 swap a while back but I can't find the thread and the search bar isn't working. I know it's no small task but itl be worth it in the end

Not me he just wants a better engine in the p5 then the bad fs.. If your going to do a honda engine in a p5 go kseries or h22. The p5 is just too heavy for a bseries. I cant find that thread either lol....

i was a big honda guy before my p5 and i can contest to b18c1 (gsr) can be pushed alot harder then k series motors... and plus my bro had a fully built b18c1 that would take out k series motors all day. plus b series more reliable. and there is not point in taking about single cam d series p5's r too heavy

i dont see why a b18 swap would be bad, hondas are really comprable to mazdas when it comes to weight... the protege is not a heavy vehicle. go for it man.

Kswap adds about $5k more than a bswap. It's not for certain but basicly the synchro for 2nd is starting to go bad and the whole motor needs rebuilt or replaced and it's just not a very good motor in general neither is a kl. It's gona get a b20 vtec swap or gsr, it's getting the swap or being sold just trying to dig up some information from somebody that would know about it more than me

I remember that thread. Custom mounts, custom wiring, modified drive shafts. If that guy could do it, im sure you can do it too. (WAY BETTER)

It's not a bad motor but not nearly as much potential. I wonder if the bseries ecu can work the gauge cluster in the protege, if it will then I could just use the entire bseries wire harness and do away with the fs. I know there's a lot you can do with a Honda ecu I wonder if I can have some one program it to work. Custom mounts shouldn't be too bad my brother is gona be dealing with the wiring the worst part I can think of is finding axles to fit or having custom ones made

I actually would do the k-swap in mine. The only thing that I would fear is the wiring

Gsr swap has almost 200 at the fly wheel k20 has like 205. $5k and more wires to deal with isn't worth it. Not to mention things for a b18 are cheap as in forged rods AND pistons for 400-600...

Thanks I've been trying to find that thread. I will however NOT be using home made half assed axles.

As for wiring if it happens I'll hope to have a stand alone to make things much easier for wiring and tuning.

The biggest reason for this swap is its hard to find parts the closest protege with a 2.0 in a junkyard is an hour from me

as far as the swap, do it or ban lol jk good luck on that man......and your lucky that protege is only an hour from you the nearest junk yard with a protege near me is 4hrs away -___-

I was thinking of the k24. Its the engine found in accords and tsx's
That engine is cheaper than the most sought after k20s

Either way I'll be going with a bseries because I know they can take the abuse it's gona get and when I break something a bseries anything will be readily available for cheap. Me and my brother are gona be looking at ecu pin outs and wiring differences Wednesday or Thursday
