Broken swaybar bracket welded nut..

I know it's common and I thought I had fixed it. I guess the nut I had holding the bolt of the bracket came loose and now the bracket is hanging just by one bolt now. Is there any other alternative to fixing this besides getting a new 'subframe pan' or what ever it's called for a zillion Mazda dollars?

I've heard 2 different ways but I can't seem to find them searching anymore. One was having an oversized bolt from homedepot and just using the hole to hold the tension on the bolt.

Another was cut a hole in the 'subframe' have a nut welded again and weld the hole up.

Any other solutions? Thanks

id try using a tourch to get that stud and surrounding area red hot then using a reverse drill bit/ex out try to get the broken off stud out the subframe. id suggest taking it to a shop that understands your situation and knows how to get it out with out damage. a shop might charge an hour or so of labor to do so but its worth it in the long run. less headache and no ghetto fabbin up some bolt or whatever. best of luck

The bolt is out but the nut that holds it in place is gone. I need to fab something that will now hold the bolt in place.

If you are talking about the top one holding the braket, simply get a 14mm bolt and wrench in the sub frame and simply bolt it in. It took me 5 minutes to get everything done....no need to weld or anything. It will eventually break off anyways if welded.

Oddly enough the entire subframe is only about $65 from Mazda. But end-links are 30 each. Go figure

when mine came un-welded i was able to get a wrench back there and get a nut and washer back in there too and got a new bolt and did it that way.

I've done this, all you need is a wrench on the inside...you will need to put your hand up and in there but it works

also once its out use the bolt on the inside and the nut on the outside to avoid problems

All of my nuts broke off in the subframe. Thank god for long skinny arms to fit up in the subframe. Tight fit, but saved a little money.

I dont know what i would do if my nuts broke of my frame (hand)

Had the same problem happen as everyone else. just stick a wrench on it, it will pin up against the sub frame as you turn the bolt head with a ratchet, holding the nut in place. Dont even need to hold the wrench.
