Broken Rear View!

I have been a proud owner of an '02 P5 for almost 4 years, and I still sing its praises. This is the first non-routine maintenance issue I've had. About 3 weeks ago, my rear view mirror (auto-dimming/compass/ambient temp), malfunctioned. It appears as though whatever fluid dims the mirror when it senses headlights behind me has leaked inside the mirror. It looks like the majority of the mirror is dimmed save for a bubble at the top where the mirror looks normal. I say bubble because when i turn the mirror in either direction, the bubble moves to the top, like oxygen rising (which I assume it is).

Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there an easy fix? If not, am I looking at buying a new mirror? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

nope, never heard of that happening before?...but if you need a mirror i have a brand new CIPA auto dimming i don't need ( i bought the wrong one)

Mine hasn't worked since I bought it(used). It looks like it has some kid of plastic film over it...in the middle, there is an oval shape where the glass is less distorted, like it was supposed to be removed but never was, but it's actually not removable. The only working part of it is the compass. I think I found it somewhere for 200 bills...not happening.

just started happening to me. looking to find out how to remove and replace it lol
