broken motor mount maybe?

Well i have been getting wheel hop at the top of first gear lately and it has started to annoy me. It happened again today at the top of first, so then I shifted. Well fast forward about 5 hours or so and I am about to leave a friends house. I turn around in the culdasak thing in first at around 2800 rpm and then begin to accelerate, not wot, but at around 3200 rpm i start getting wheel hop again, so i shift and it goes away. The rest of my way home I was in traffic or moving so I could not see if it happened again. Do you think a mount is broken? The car is stock, or could it be the cold weather, like 30 degrees outside now.

Ok when you shift do you hear some metal on metal clinking coming from around your feet? Did your car get noticably louder, and more vibrating? If so then your mount is broken. I just had this happen to me. So before you go to the dealr check for this. If not your mount is probably not broken. The reason could be because your tires are not warmed up yet, I have noticed this in the morning on my way to school, this could be your problem too.

I have had metal clunking for a little while. Lately in the morning when I leave it feels like there is more vibrations and it causes the dash to rattle. I will pay more attention to it tomorrow morning.

I dont wanna jus go to the dealer b/c it is 1 hr 15 min away and no rental for me, so means wait or have another driver.

dont worry about rental....part of you warranty is a loaner car ...this not a dealer thing it is in the mazda lit....you just have to set the appointment and tell them you need a loaner....unless your under 21

I meant loaner and I am under 21.

Ok chances are you do have a broken rear motor mount, tell them to check the rear motormount. Thats what was wrong with my car and it caused all of those problems.

I would guess a broken mount too .... but another possibility is just the tires. Are you running the stock tires? If so, they are VERY slippery in the cold and you'll get wheel hop real easy. I had my stocks on into late november (below freezing temps) and the wheels would spin amazingly easy.

yes i am still on the stock tires, but really they would have that little traction to cause wheel hop?
That is news to me. I am gonna experiment a little tomorrow. Is it bad to drive with a broken mount? I can keep the rpms low and drive around like a grandma if needed.

You should be okay, I drove my MX-6 WITHOUT a front motor mount(I was filling it and waiting the 48 hours for it to dry). Probably not the smartest thing to do, but I drove and shifted nice and slow and it seemed okay.

DISCLAIMER: Not my fault if you screw up your other mounts:D

yep broken mounts, possibly rear mount.

This is happening to me too, but, im modded, no warranty:

$130 passenger side mount
$66 top trans mount

front and rear are AWR mounts

oh yea just wondering if a broken mount would make it harder to shift? My gearbox seems to not want to go into gear well, even when the fluid is warm and this is worse that what it was before. Before shifting from fourth to fifth used to be smooth but now it has a little bit of a rough feeling to it and requires more effort to get it in gear.

Well, it still sounds like a bad mount...but the tires are at least another possibility to think about. I know I was surprised how slick they were in the cold. Your situation sounds worse than that though.

did a little experimenting today when I had a chance and it was the same thing, another person was also in the car and felt and was like there is something wrong.

I have the same problem and all my motor mounts are intact. Here my little theory, its been colder lately and my tires are pretty well worn so colder tires are harder tires which will amplify wheel hop. Also if you upped the boost this happens in every car I drove with increased boost.

Damn, broken motor mounts on a brand new car? They lasted 10+ years in the 1st gen mx6/626.
