Broken Awr Mount

i spoke with Tony@AWR a few minutes ago. he will replace the broken mounts. as for replacing all older mounts even if they have not broken i'll have to ask him on that.

he buys his bushings from Energy Suspension. he has mailed the broken mount he has gotten back from us to them so they too can determine what can be done on top of everything else to strengthen the mount. so the revisions are a work in progress. AWR is considering no longer offering 70 durometer mounts for the mazdaspeed3 as he is beginning to feel that they are not strong enough to support this particular powertrain. the downside to this is that going with a stronger bushing will induce more vibration inside the cabin.

outside of AWR's efforts, we are working on something else entirely in terms of engine mounting.

Hey Cap,

what is the procedure in getting the new mount ? I got mine from protege garage.

Thanks

This had the potential to be a good thread with useful info. Unfortunately, it turned into a cripple fight.

kudos on that, but it honestly dosent shock me that whitey was involved in it, Im not a fan of his Arrogance and logic....

On topic though it really sucks to see the mount failed, I was just about to buy one, Im going to have to try and find the other threads and make a final decision... Ok Nvm I take that back, read captians post and I feel better about it again. Good points made as usual...

Thank you. Keep us posted. I have an early AWR mount and would rather not have it self destruct (I realize it won't drop the engine).

have you called AWR? just PM me and i'll take care of you!

This is not a bash of Street Unit mounts at all (I own one). But if the makers of AWR do not think the 77 Duro mount is gogin to cut the mustard. Will the SU 62 Duro mount also fail?

The two mounts are toally different designs. I am not saying the SU will or will not break, but I don't think there is any relation between the two as far as reliability goes.

i'm not in the business of bashing products, but the SU mount has not been on the market long enough to say how it will perform or hold up. let that product stand on its own merits before anyone gets concerned.

we have our own mount solution that we'll make everyone aware of soon

the broken ones i have seen are 70 durometer. i believe (mafanchai, correct me if i am wrong) this one is as well.

Well I will def keep an eye on mine. Before I even installed it, I took out my battery box and checked that bolt. I actually put a wrench on it to make sure it was tight. And it was.

Yep i did call them today, but was waiting to hear back from them. I will try to call them tomorrow and see if they will be able to help me out, if not .. i would need your help.

funny, i asked them before I p/u'd mine that if the 88 was to shaky that they will send the 70 pads and they said he would send them through the mail. I called him requested the pads about a month and a half ago and still they never showed...

Hmmm... I just ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and just received it, will it be the newer style single bushing?

There are quite a few of these installed (including mine) that have not broken; only a couple that have failed. My advice is to go ahead and install it. If it fails, get them to replace it. The car is majorly improved with this mount.
