Broke my Apex Motorsports Downpipe WTF!

So I just completed a 1000 mile trip in my MazdaSpeed and when I had about 150 miles to go. I took off from a complete stop after paying a toll. And my car sounded like a friggin semi-truck. So when I pulled over and looked under the car. Sure enough the downpipe was no longer connected to the turbo.. it was about an inch and a half away.. just snapped off or something.
Has this ever happend to anyone else. I am weary of buying the same product in fear of this happening again. And also when I accelerate or slow down there is a horrible squeaking noise coming from the area of my shifter, but i believe it is something to do with the exhaust.

the apexi doesn't come with a flex pipe? seems like engine movement has caused it to come off. do you have aftermarket motor mounts?

Mine broke at the flex pipe. Welcome to the broken Apex downpipe club. I got mine fixed with a better flex hose. I didn't want the same old piece of crap flex hose from them. You have to ship it back for warranty service.

Mine cracked where the DP connects to the S-pipe. Call apex, they have very good customer service, and go from there. Also invest in some motor mounts, or inserts. That was the cause of my cracked DP. Plus inserts are like $55, from rr-racing, or go with awr.

That's cool Apex is fixing them....man I'm glad I didn't get one of these when they came out. GHL ftw.

I appreciate what apex did for me, and that is one of the reasons i will continue to be their customer. Hope everything works out for u.

Well it may not be related but when i had the same problem with my stock exhaust that shifting noise is probably cause the weld before the cat snapped and is rubbing on the frame on the car....

i didnt get on it to much...it didnt feel any faster maybe slower. some how. But I was overwhelmed with the loud sound of the turbo spooling

yes its crazy i've run open dp and it sounds like a semi.

Is there a response for Hellnightkid's question? With the broken downpipe, despite Apex fixing them, is it worth it to purchase their product? I ask because I live in Canada and returning the product to Apex for warranty issues would be a really PITA.

their DP are good quality, its our cars the cause the dp to break. Since our engine moves alot during accel, and boost, thats causes too mutch stress on the DP. So get motor mount or inserts and keep your DP longer, and eliminate wheel hop too.

so, do u guys recommand me to buy a apex dp?

I would prob buy one. You'd hope that they have taken measures and reworked every new pipe shipped to withstand the abuse. And the cust service seems top notch, so you can't argue with that aspect. Def get some mounts though.

I bought mine used over a year ago. It was on the other car for about 8 months I think, and on mine for about 15K miles. No problems what-so-ever.

yea i'd recommend it, i've had it on my car for over a year and i have no problems with it. Great mod for the money.
