Brian_K's Build Thread

So clean!! Loving the red/gold look. And dat wrap! 10/10

thanks! the wrap is actually starting to deteriorate. I'm debating whether i should just re-wrap it or get it professionally painted.

picked up these things yesterday, really stoked to have them.

corksport 2.5" downpipe

and a 3" 3 piece v-band exhaust. this thing is huge! I originally wanted to just go with a 2.5" but this was such a good price i couldn't pass it up. I'll be replacing the fake cat that's currently on it with a generic high flow to get rid of the catless smell. Now I have to get rid of all the exhaust parts I ended up purchasing over the past several months lol.

I just ordered some new gaskets so hopefully it'll all be installed by the weekend. I'll try to post some videos as well

also I ended up removing my rear diffuser (it wont fit without some cutting with the new exhaust), so if anyone is interested in it pm me. I'd like to sell it locally since it's a larger item.

I really want gold MSM wheels now. You're car is beautiful. I love clean builds and you sir, have great taste

update time!

Installed the Corksport Downpipe and modified the stock midpipe to make it fit. I still need some stuff done until I can install the 3" exhaust.

Put together a cold air intake with some extra piping and couplers. I still need to paint the pipe to match the rest

The weight difference between my bad walmart battery and the deka was surprising.

I'm glad I decided to swap batteries. After removing the Walmart one I found that the positive terminal had separated from the casing lol...

looks good, and ya its a tiny battery that has not failed me in years. Just make sure if you don't drive the car for extended period in the cold that you might need a little boost just to get it back.

Interesting. Can't say I've seen such a small battery before lol. What's the difference/advantage of this vs the old?

besides weight and it being a AGM battery there is no other reason to swap from the factory size battery in a daily driver.

i was thinking of getting an optima battery but i might go with this one

the weight difference alone would be a huge, let alone the price difference.

I mainly did it because I was due for a new battery, but I also like that it's maintenance free and cheaper than the walmart everstart battery. I'm also planning on doing a relocation whenever I get the time/cash to do so lol

yeah my battery is due to be replaced so this is the one i will be going with. my car will be your cars silver twin. im debating on losing the xxr's and getting the mx5's you have as well about three pounds lighter too.

edit: did you order it online brian or buy it locally?

I like the mx-5 wheels but they're a little too narrow, I do like how much they weigh though.

I got the battery off amazon, but I've seen it on other websites for $10-15 cheaper.

finished up my HVAC knobs today. I think they came out pretty clean and make the interior look a bit more modern.

That looks awesome. What are they from?

i believe they're from a mazda2. One of the other Brians on fb was kind enough to share that they fit. They can be found on ebay for ~$10. All you really have to do is trim the backs with a dremel and they fit right on the stock hvac pegs

Looks good man! one of my favorite p5's! (thumb) What did you use to paint the climate control bezel and center console? I'm digging that gold. I assume it's paint not vinyl?
