93 dx rear drums to rear disc?? has anyone done this mod?? i have an escort gt for parts and just want to know what im getting into.. thanks

Upgrade the front brakes too, or adjust the proportioning valve, otherwise you'd have a rear-bias brake system which will send you sliding all over

ya i was planning the to do the fronts as well..i sold the car, but im helping the guy set it up the way he wants it, its and auto-x car only now, some street, but nothing the brakes cant handle as they are.. dont know why he whats to change it, seems like a big uneeded project to me..

It is. I used the stock brakes at Buttonwillow for 30 minute sessions.... they're fine. Just use some nice pads. Modifying his brakes would probably put him in a class of autocross that's uncompetitive for a 103hp car anyway. (thought)

I would totally agree with you here. If you do not have tons of power under the hood, then you do not need discs in the rear. Depending on the class location, this could really hurt his scores.

ya, i raced this car before, had no problems!! brembo crossdrilled rotors, some good pads etc.. and i did VERY well at the autocross, beating times if cars that i shouldnt not have! then again i can drive that car well and our SCCA like the tight hard courses!! lots of miatas!! this guy wants the bigger brakes,im going to tell him this just isnt worth it.. thanks for the info guys

bruce, thanks for the info, thats what i had thought it to be.. im glad you got it finished!!!
did you think it was worth the trouble?? you notice any better stopping or shorter distances???? thanks again

heck yeah ... the disks really grip.. I did not even change the pads yet either.
I say go for it. My only problem stemed from trying to get the bolt out of the TTL spindle.

but otherwise, brake is great and sharp. You hit the brakes and the car will instantly respond.
