Brake sooner??????

OK, I can't take it any longer. It's little but it's been bothering the piss out of me for months:

The tagline for this forum says "brake sooner." In a straight line, we want to brake SHORTER and on the circuit we want to brake LATER (read: deeper into the turn), but I can't think of an instance where we want our cars to brake "sooner."

I've never heard an instructor talk about early braking being desirable. Am I missing something?

Psst. If IS300 catches this, he'll boil us. <he, he>

Read: Decreased stopping distance.
I think it means additional stopping power....or stopping sooner due to better bite (which would allow you to brake deeper into a corner.
