brake help here.. FAST!

2003.5 yellow msp
ok..

bought some ebc drilled and slotted rotors and green stuff pads.

install this on the car and i hear a wiiiiiiizzzzzzzz as i'm driving the car.. if i step on the brakes, i here a WIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ alot louder..

is this normal ?? i google it and some say the rotors are noisy at first.. i's been like 150 miles now and i cant seem to make this wiiizzzzzzz go away..
got no vibration what so ever and the car brakes like velcro.

i greased my sliders alright and even put some on where the pads go.. just a little.. and torqued the wheels at 95 lbs

what am i missing ??(boom07)


who here has EBC brakes ?? can anoyone confirm this sound?? is it normal ? when does it go away??
 
I also have heard it on other people's cars and it doesn't seem to go away. But it's normal and if it's braking good there really shouldn't be a problem other than it's anoying
 
it's the dimples in the rotors. dont' worry it's normal im running the exact same setup, got about 1500 miles on em and they still do it.
 
hmm knowing this i would have gone with conventionnal ebc instead.. oh well

btw, man do those brake stop the car fast.
 
Make sure your brake dust cover isnt rubbing against your rotor.. I had that happen when I had my wheels off.. I bent it accidently and it was rubbing against the rotor... Annoyed the hell out of me..

one thing though, if i dont step on the brakes at all and just drive, i can still hear the wizz funny sound.. like im on spiked winter tires...

is that normal??.. coze THATS annoying
 
yes, normal. unfortunatly thats just how its gonna be with those brakes i've learned to turn the music up.
 
I would think it means that your brakes are sticking, mainly I would be looking at the caliber and caliber assembly itslef. I just did mine and I have no sound what so ever, just braking. I have a friend who installed these rotors on his RSX and had similar problems. Usually some brake cleaner and a quick adjustment of the pads helps out a great deal. If that doesn't work I would check the lines and like I said earlier the caliber assembly

so which is which? i hear the sound on all the wheels.. mainly the front when i have the windows down..

now i dont think that ALL my calipers are sticking here..

i got no brake smell, no traces of overheating rotors and it brakes like a mofo..

so that sound of spike winter tires is gonna stay.. i can live with it.. but will someone confirm if it's normal.. i dismounted the brakes 3 times since yesterday and havent found a thing wrong..

only thing wrong was a rear right pds that didnt fit well in the slots and were too tight.. so i use my dremel and adjusted the pads to be nice flush.. not slack.. not too tight.. just right..

I have these rotors and pads...i dont have a WHIZZ sounds but you get a sound from the dimples and slots rubbing the pads...but its more like "tick tick tick tick tick tick...." not a whizz sound and they dont make noise when im not on the brakes...sounds like you have a problem
 
I doubt its normal. If you say it happens even when the brakes are not pressed, then something somewhere is rubbing against something when the wheels rotate. Could very well be warped rotors, or thicker rotors. And they are contacting the brake caliper in some fashion.

anyways, what i did is this.. after driving around with the greenstuff pads i was disapointed in them and reverted to my other set of pads (ceramic high performance ones) instead.. when installing htem , i noticed my pads were hard to get into the slots in the front.. so i used my dremel and buff them out till they were less tight and more snug.. almost slack.. put this all back and no more noise.. seems the front pads were not returning back after i step on the brakes and were rubbing on the discs..

now i hear them about 20% of what i could hear them beforte this.. o all i hear is a slight shhhhhh and when i step on the brake i hear them wizz a little..

all seems to be normal now..

compred t the greenstuff pads, these will not feel like ice when hot.. but there have less grip when cold.. once though it's another story.

the greenstuff had grip when cold it was incredible.. until they got hot after a few hard stops.

question: how much loose/slack should the slots in front have with the brake pads?
 
the two littil springs that help the pads stay off the rotor. I will try and find pics. but it sounds like its fixed, good job!

The noise is common with cross drilled.

The springs will be a must.

Anti Sieze the clips, not too much, you don't need that s*** on the disk..

no no no. Well I know that in the beginning, the first 20 miles, there is a possibility of noise. There should not be sounds coming after that, ever. I think that the rotors that ebc sent you are in someway defective. Unless you hit them on with a hammer or something I bet they would take them back if it was still under warranty. If you didn't use the jacking screw when taking off the old rotors IT shouldn't have affected the mounting surface. If it did than your in a whole new game. try taking the rotors off and seeing if there is any damage. If there isn't I would suggest talking to EBC.

when doing it this time though use some brake cleaner before and after iinstalling the rotors. I find this usually helps with that alot. Also for my car there is a screw, 17mm or 18mm (can't remember), that has to be fastened and bent in with something small (a tap) or the screw would grind against the rotor. Kind of like a spinner, but unlikely to happen in your case. Good luck and pm me if you have any questions.... also with the springs it would just wear down the pads more. Not really what would happen to you because after 50miles of constant braking they would be worn down enough to be off the rotor and at 150 miles......yeah

yeah i got the springs back on of course..

never had pad fitment problems on one of my cars before..

i just redremel and rechecked the front pads so they wouldn't be too tigt.. seems alright now..

any of you exeprienced pads that were too tight in the slots?
