brake dust removal

something i've found that works well for cleaning is windex. i use an old rag, spray the windex and wipe. about 5 mins per wheel, however it does not 'repel' or coat the spokes for an easier cleaning the next time...

i prefer gunmetal, lol ... same tint as the dust, just makes the wheel more defined, kinda like gray specks in you hair make you look "distinguished"

what's the best way to get the brake dust out of all the spokes and the lugs on the stock MS3 wheels? The fronts get dirty so fast, cleaning off the outside face of the wheels is no problem, but getting in all the spokes is really a pain. So far the tool that seems to work best is my finger. Also, has anyone had any luck with any of the brake dust repellant sprays?

To clean wheels I use an all natural pH balanced citrus cleaner. Not an OTC citrus cleaner (they are really petroleum based with a nice smell (no)). I use a horse hair or boars hair brush. I feel bad for all of the wheels that are getting the cheap wal-mart brushes or the kitchen sink brushes used on them. However you CAN polish wheels. Not sure why someone said not to. There are clear-coat safe wheel polishes. I also use microfiber gloves for parts that the brushes won't handle. After I have cleaned the wheel and dried with a microfiber towel I treat it with either wheel wax (which is a great option for little money) or depending on the use of the car (ie hard breaking, racing...anything that induces higher temps) I use a high temp wax.

Theres another way to clean you rims... After you clean your rims, put some alcohol on it, by doing this, you wont accumilate that much brake dust anymore because alcohol makes the dust slide off !!!!
