Ok so I built this box for my P5 a few weeks ago. Finally got around to tossing some carpet on it today. A few different people asked for pics of the box so here they are... keep in mind this was a first attempt I could make it alot cleaner if I did it again. But it sounds awesome so no need to rebuild it.

You get an A+ for your woodworking skills. Many people have made similar enclosures using fiberglass to maximize airspace but this is the first all wood (or MDF rather) box I've seen.

The airspace looks kind of small. Do you know how big it is (cuft)?

Thanks... it was a challenge, but I have much more experience with wood than fiberglass... Liquid Nails will make anything work. My airspace is about .4~.5cuft... So its almost perfect for an old 10W6.

A little on the small side (I thing most JL 10"s need .6-.8) but if you send it plenty of power it will hit real hard.

You are correct, but I polyfilled the box (I poly fill every box I build tricks the sub by cancelling the internal sound waves) and it sounds great. I just got an old Zapco 100x2 1ohm stable amp. Too bad I am only running 3ohms... That thing is a beast.

Oh man, that looks outstanding. That's exactly what I'd like for my P5. Did you come up with the design on your own?

Yeah I just cut and fit and kept trying.. Like I said earlier I could make it a lot cleaner if I made it over.

ya, nice job...i'd like to do something like that too! i've got a box i did, but it takes up so much room...i was concerned about the sir space...did you cut out the plastic behind the box?

No if I take out the box I can put the cover back and its just like stock... thats why it looks as bad as it does in the pics.. But it actually sounds better than I expected.

Did you keep outlined models? If so, how long it would take you to make another set? Do you want to make another set? How much? By the way very good job! (first) I just hope I would have time to do some stuff also! (deadhorse

I would only make one for someone local, that way we could discuss everything. I am not a pro and it is not perfect. I would say if I were making a show car it would need more work. But just a driver its good. I did not keep outlines or dimensions. But I could take mine out and make templates from it..

Also I must say that fiberglass is a better way to go, but for me I did not think it was necessary. Fiberglass will give you more airspace and a better fit.

it looks very good for a poor job like you saying. I wouldn't mind having those in my trunk!
I have a performance daily driver not a show car! (cheers)
Think about it, you could start your own busines! :)

Nice work...That box really puts the sub out of the way...which is what you need if your actually using your car. Nice placement right behind the child's seat.

great wook looks good. is thre anyway u could fit a 12 there?

No way not with the way the box is made... the jig saw hit the sides when I was cutting the sub whole out... Besides air space is way too small.

As far as making them for people, the cost would be insane.. I am on call 24/7 and I have a new house that needs alot of work, a 2-1/2 yr old, and a wife... so my time is extremely valuable to me... (thumb) But thanks for the consideration.

Very clean job.Exactly what I need.I use the hatch an awfull lot to put a big box in mine. There needs to be something on here like the Nissan forum I'm on. Like a "How to" place.Somewhere to post pics and give kinda like directions. For example:Someone posted how to make clear bumper lenses for around 10 bucks for the hardbody trucks.
