BOV with CAI sounds like s***!!!

:wtf:I just installed the Injen CAI using the factory BOV and when I let off the gas to shift the BOV sounds like a dying squirrel or some weird bird call from under my hood. What the hell is that???
(hand)
I have heard other cars with BOV and usually it sounds like a "phish" pressure release sound not like a F@#KING dying animal.
Does anyone else with the Injen CAI have the same BOV sound??? Will replacing it change that to a more normal sounding BOV??

Let me know guys,

Thanks

I get the pshh sound when its cool out and even more so w/ the K&N on..

Read my post i have the same thing you do it sounds Awesome dude you need to turn up the boost some it gets louder sounds great i think.

Thats the normal sound. Its a recirculating valve. The sound is actually coming out of the filter. Even if you put on an aftermarket valve, you will still get a sound similar to what the factory one has.

That sounds like s***, no way to get the normal "phish" sound that most turbo BOVs have?
I thought I saw a video in here somewhere of someone driving their MSP with CAI installed and it didn't sound like that at all. :wtf:

Not unless you go with an atmospheric Blow off valve, then you runthe risk of stalling when getting off the throttle at a red light. Like after you run through the gears hard, then get out of gear, the car accounted for the air your dumping into the atmosphere, and dumping the fuel for it, but its not there, you stall.

Alright, I guess I will have to learn to live with my new terminally ill pet squirrel under my hood.

Thanks for the info.

speaking of K&N.. I was just at their site, trying to find out the part number for the filter on our speeds... and nothing to be found? Do we just use the protege air filter? Lil help?

That Turkey sound is actually turbo shutter which is perfectly normal. It becomes much more apparent when an open element filter is used. The stock "diversion/ bypass" valve makes a faint pssshh sound. Bailey makes a great diversion valve. So does Turbo XS.

HKS makes re-route kit for the SSQ BOV.

If you plan to add more boost. (In the Joe P range) than get a adjustable Bypass valve or Diversion valve. You can set the blow off according to PSI you are running.

he means vent to the atmosphere, take off/disconnect the return tube. basically not the way the car was meant to be run.

advantages - louder blow off sound

disadvantages -- theres a good chance your car will run like s***. with a cbv..its a closed system..you recycle air that gets blown off..the ecu is happy.....but when you vent...and air goes to the atmosphere...you run rich..might get hesitation...stumbling....but hey...the car "feels" fine..so everything must be ok..right? :o

Yes...it is the same filter as the 2.0 ltr protege...make sure you reset the computer after you install it

Just get the drop in for the standard Protege with a 2.0 or MP3 same filter.
