BOV question

Ok...This maybe a dumb question, but how does a blow off valve work and what does it do?.

Also is it worth upgrading and what is the gain?

Can some one please help with my ignorance

ummm yeah The BOV (or recirculating valve if you want to be anal) releases all the pressure from the turbo after you let off the gas. If not it will bounce off the throttle plate and back to the turbo which could in turn damage the turbo over time. Now you dont need one but its a good saftey measure. Now the stock one is fine if you run stock boost. If you plan on upping the boost upgrade your BOV.
