I see most of you guys call this device a Blow Off Valve, while I've always known them as Bypass Valves.

Do any of you run true Blow Off Valves that vent to the atmosphere?

Thanks

ur hls ssw is atmospheric is it not? not had any problems?? if i put an atmos bov on my stock msp would i have any problems?

I don't know what the MSP has but bypass valves and BOVs are just both a type of Pressure Release Valve. Bypass valves recirculate the air back into the intake, BOVs release the air to ATM.

I don't see why having a BOV would give you problems, the air is just going somewhere else. If all you're looking for is the hiss then just get a BOV and don't worry about it.
But then again I'm no expert.

Search is your friend.

Not really. It comes up with way too many threads, I just don't want to spend the time to go through each one to see if a couple of people are running a true BOV.

i believe most people are recirculating their bov into the intake....otherwise you run into stalling problems. you'll have to get some type of fuel management system to correct that. some people can get away with venting to the atmosphere....guess it's just how you drive...

if you wanted to run either a greddy type-s or the hks ssqv without having to weld it on, check out www.8vturbo.com. they make the flange you need (it's also been posted before).

hope that helps

In do and have pics on the 2nd or 3rd page called BOV PICS or something of that nature

Okay, checked out the pics, clean install. No drivability problems? I'm just a bit unsure about venting metered air out of the system. I hear these cars are running rich to begin with, and venting metered air to the atmosphere may throw the computer for a loop. But if your car is running good, that eases my mind.

Thanks

I am/do, I have been running Apexi BOV that vents to the ATM for about 4 months now. At first my idle was crap and the car would stall if I dont give a lot of extra gas when shifting. But that was fixed after reinstalling the valve.

this question is mostly for rxkevin. is ur hks ssq model #...
HKS-1421-SA001

i found that 1 for $199. is that good? how much would it take for a shop to install it?

Oh I forgot. $199 is a decent price if you don't have to pay taxes or shipping. I got mine for $180 new, which I think is pretty good. Just shop around.

wow very nice setup. is that ur exact model? would it take any modifications for me to put it on?? i am going to have a shop do it and im jw a broad estimate. does it sound really nice?

i check out ur vids and ur exhaust sounds louder but i dont see any mods. i dont hear ur bov, is it louder?
