Notice anything missing?

That's RIGHT! While I was tightening the lower screw it... sheared. Now the seal is still tight, and I hold boost really well. But obviously I don't want to leave things this way. What can be done about this? I'm hoping the engine itself isn't cross-threaded, just the screw. How likely is it that's the case? And can a good mechanic get this damn thing out, and if necessary, fix the bolt hole if it is cross threaded?

I think I read they make extractor bits especially for this.

Ideas?

any mechanic should be able to get that out, was the engine hot when this was done? if so it may have cross threaded. not sure how easy it would be to rethread

Oops, tough "break". Well, cross-threaded is cross-threaded. Anyway, you need Grabit!

yeah that wont be too hard to get out at all. if you didnt live in L.A. I would say come over and ill pull it for ya but obviously that wont work

Put down the spinach, Popeye.

Here's what I was eating when I read that:

Spinach Salad! I laughed so hard, my wife came in to ask what happened.

Okay, I have calmed down a bit. I got so worked up I thought I would need a new engine for gods sake. I think you all are right, a machinist can yank this, and if necessary, use a thread restorer to set me up. The absolute worst case scenario is the threads are destroyed, it will have to be drilled, and I use a nut and bolt to seal the BOV, though I seriously doubt its that bad

I will keep you posted, but welcome any other advice or good humor.

some of this tread ended up in the funny quotes from other members by the way

did you try removing the othe nut/bolt/whatever to see if the BOV comes off? If so it looks like there's plenty of thread on there that you could grab it w/ some vice grips and back it out.

I'm running at as 100% recirc, it's just a different sound than Mario is all. And I can VTA if the need arises, which I don't foresee but nonetheless. A nice quality piece...

I would try backing it out, but It's sealed right now and I don't have another screw. I may try that though. Good suggestion.

A nut and bolt? What, are heli-coils too old school?

u can do it ur own . it happened on me be4. when tried to screw that lower bolt out, then i realized i cracked it, half of the bolt still inside the thread, so i got me a grabit. grib it and turnslowly upside down ,it will come out easily. so i unscrew the bolt that were holding the plastic cover under the engine . tight it up and its perfect...!!!u dont need to take it to local shop that might cause some $$$....

Is the BPV hole actually threaded? If not, just remove the other one, take the valve off, and then use some vice grips to get the broken one off, since there will be a little stub you can grab onto.

That's a sweet valve, I'm thinking about getting it with my tax money. OP, how do you like it so far? Where did you get it from and how much did it run you?
