bov leak

I have had my hks bov installed for a long time and constantly get a boost leak or something going on. The vaccum hose that connects on the small nipple with a rubber hose on it seems to be that it kinks and that causes the sound. everything else seems tight but something is leaking or just "wrong" i get a high piched sound instead of a "woosh". I beleive that the nipple tube on the end of it might be loose as well. Think that maybe i could push it in further and get a different metal hose... I'm just bumfoozled on what it could be. Im running it on vta mode btw. Pressure seems to hold fine and all no spike or anything just annoying sound.

Do you have the c p e kit? Maybe you didnt seat the snap ring completly? Easy way to tell is if you can rotate the valve to left or right by tryin to turn it. (outie)

ive got an hks kit. the small vaccum hose that connects to the metal stem pipe thing on the front of the kit is the culprit. it goes from that metal stem pipe to via a hose that has a air filter in it. i remove the hose and it sounds and runs fine. Any idea on what the hose is for and if i leave it off and cap the metal pipe if there will be any problems.

the circled pipe is where the hose connects to. this is just open, just like in the picture now. No hose on it.

That thing that is circled is the vaccum lead (dont know the official name) If you dont connect that the BPV will not open/operate. So you need to have that attached. I would suggest a vaccum measuring tool for any level mechanic. Especially if you own a turbocharged vehicle. It will let you know if your leaking boost or not. If thats unplugged and the vaccum line is still open your air/fuel ratios should be way rich.

What kind of things are happening? Is your idle shot?

If your running the HKS in a VTA config. It will produce a different sound. The plastic fitting changes the sound of the BOV. If you remove that piece it will have more of a whoosh and less of a high pitched psshh sound

Good luck

okay well i will hook it back up then. I like the whosh not the whistle. What plastic fitting are you referring to that i can take out?
No other problems other than the sound really. some backfires at low revs or whatever but not incredibly worried about it. Might put it into recirc eventually but not really worried about it yet.

on the front of the bpv there is 10 or so holes surrounding the radius of the bpv outlet. half of those holes contain allen screws that hold the shield together. if you remove this the plastic piece held in the front of the bpv outlet will be removable. It looks like the benz logo hope that makes sense
