I am looking into a blow off valve for me ms3..... however with the price differences, i would just like to hear different opinons about these 3 brands... i have been looking at the HKS super sequential BOV... but then i found the greddy and the forge motorsport bypass valve... im wondering if you get what you pay for by buying the HKS or its not worth the extra 100.. go for forge.... thanks for any help!

I cant say i have heard anything positive about the Greddy. Infact, there was a guy here who was so unhappy with his Greddy, he got the Forge hooked up for us on the MS3. Perhaps he will chime in.

Forge makes a nice and simple BPV (a BOV that is in recirc) that is industry known to be sufficient. It also looks clean. The Greddy is very touchy and hard to keep tunes properly. THe HKS is fluttery with its push and pull design of the valve. the most expensive hybrid valves are really nice, but cost almost 300 bucks and are very big in size.

You should first evaluate what your goal is for this change. Are you expecting improved performance, low cost, good looks, strange ricer noises (with associated bad performance), or what? If you look objectively, you might decide the stocker is really the best for you.

I'll chime in saying the newest HKS isn't very pretty. The sound is also very plain in reserc (Sort of a louder stock like wooooosh). I am working with a shop to remake the fitting to allow the tripple fin discharge to reserc and hopefully sound cool as hell. I don't care about performance, but driveablity can't suffer so use a bpv or reserc bov only. The HKS doesn't make the car run any different if hooked up correctly.

To be honest what im looking for is one at doesnt do anything to preformance(maybe increase a little bit) but i want one more for the sound... however ive heard bad stories about VTA BOV and was looking into the forge BPV.... although i hear hks has the bestt sound.... so really i just want something that doesnt damage the car and has the sound

i notcied people putting the list of their cars.... thought id make a quick post of mine other then my mazda
02 z06 vette; corsa exhaust, ram air induction, shorty headers
07 Lexus GS 350
91 Lx mustang 5.0 convert.; 3" twister muffler

yep that was me !
forge is by far the best valve i have had on this car (i've tried 4 of them)
save money and get a better valve... go forge.

Im running a greddy type rs on my protege now and its works great,im not sure about the forge but with the greddy you can adjust it which is nice feature, and with the greddy you can run it both vent to atmosphere or recirculate, it sounds real nice too

well since you have had them all i think you would be the guy to talk to (definatly).. with the forge recirc bypass valve.. is it possible to run the recirc. on my stock intake.. i heard people having problems with hosing and stuff..but with the money id save buyin froge id almost have enough for a intake...my last question though would be out of all the ones youve tried, for the money forge has a good sound, no problems with any preformance damage or loss? cuz my main concern about this whole deal was ive hgeard stories about damaging cat convert. and other stuff like that.... as long as i get the sound with no damage OR PREFORMANCE LOSS ill be fine!
thanks for your help

Can you hear your forge BPV on recirc?

On the stock intake, barely. Only the owner would notice the difference. It's a muted "shhh" followed by a very very quiet "peep" when you really come off boost hard.

With the MS CAI, it's more like a very loud and pronouced "WOOOSH" followed by a somewhat quiet squeak.

thats the website for the forge BPV... i believe tru boost told me it comes with everything you need to install... if noone gets back to you quick enough im sure you can just call the company and ask...
o and bkw if you come back in here...would you think that if you had a aftermarket intake period it would have that sound.... realistically they all do the same thing... cuz i was looking into the injen intake instead of the 300 dollar mazda version... got a guess of ot matters? tthanks

the forge recirc valve really is the best thing out there.
it bolts up to the stock location with no adapter plates. it is much more adjustable than the greddy. the forge lets you actually change the internal spring. the greddy just lets you put pressure on the spring. the problem is once you get it as tight as you need it the valve doesnt open fully.
i'm sure the protege user doesnt have any problems because those cars run like ...6psi, not 16 like us.
the sound is awesome (the best i have heard) with a cai. i cant comment on the sound with the stock airbox, as i dont even have mine anymore.. but i would imagine you will hear little to nothing.

u wont damage ur cats or ur car with any valve as long as it recirculates the air back to get metered...vta makes the car run rich after shifts for short period of time since there is less air in the system cuz its "Vented To Atmosphere"

yea thats true..dif between stock and forge is adjustable factor...i know they discontinued the hks adjustable and i never found out why..but my guess is that in the long run u start getting leaks?

hmm, so the ms3 is similar to the wrx/sti in that you would need a pcm flash
in order to run a vta bov. bummer. ssqv ftw.
