Bought a MAZDA2 Yesterday (HELP Big Problems Already)

Hi there.

I bought a Mazda 2 6 months ago. The car was 2 years old when I bought it and it is still under warranty.

I have had this grinding noise from the front of the car as you have described. The car has been into Mazda garages for the last six months and they have now said that they cannot fix it and it is an acceptable noise.

The noise is loud, distracting and not a noise you would expect to hear from a good working car.

Mazda's head office do not want to recognise this as an issue and i now have nowhere to turn. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure where to go for the UK. In the states there are lemon laws which give you leverage to get a car fixed. Have you call the Mazda corporate in the UK to see if you can get help?

I realize this thread is a few years old, but I can also add that my new Mazda 2 was making all sorts of horrendous noises over bumps within the first 500 miles. It usually goes away when temperatures are over 20-25, but still annoying and not what I was expecting when buying a brand new car.

I wonder if it has something to do with parts batches or something else on the Mazda's end in Japan...Aren't the 2s/Demios manufactured at more than one plant? Or do all the U.S. ones come from the Hiroshima plant? Does anyone know?

I also had suspension noise issues in cold temperatures, but it has since been fixed fairly easily @ the dealership.

I know this thread is old and I am getting a 2014 Mazda Touring on Friday. I am new here but car now 2002 Escorrt ZX2 has an old remote start in it that does like 500 feet. Just wondering what you got in your car. I was told their is a new one now called Viper Smart Start and you use your phone only which is what I want but you have to pay a yearly fee for it. But did it solve your problem having the car warmed up before you drove off in it?

I know I said the same thing....Oil freezing....Well I had a Car starter added last week and will see what happens on a really cold day. Once the car is all warmed up (15 mins later) All should also be ok....

I to have this problem with my Mazda 2 2013 when it's below 0C. It sounds terrible and the dealer didn't find anything wrong with the car and Mazda Canada said this:

"Thank you for contacting Mazda regarding your recent service experience.

We value your feedback and continually evaluate our records as part of our commitment to provide the highest quality of service to our customers. We have documented your feedback for our records.

Mazda vehicles are known for their tight suspensions giving them excellent maneuverability and cornering, etc. That tight suspension may mean that when going over bumps or potholes some noise is heard. Add the colder weather which tends to harden some of the dampening components its not unusual to hear some noise depending on the type of bump or pothole is hit in concert with the speed or velocity of the moving vehicle.

As such, noise from the suspension under certain conditions is not necessarily indicative of a factory defect with a component. Having said that, if you believe a component is defective please have your authorized Mazda dealership perform diagnostics which may include a test drive to determine if a component requires repair or replacement.

Sincerely,

Yeah normal. My 2 makes creaking noises when really cold. Nature of rubber bushings that naturally bind when flexed. Strut mounts and rear trailing beam pivot bushings are the sources.

Don't worry about it.
