Boston Globe article on repairing rims

i had a bent rim repaired and repainted, cost almost as much as new, but they didn't make that rim any longer so i had np real choice...anyway the only thing that got screwed up was the coclor match, they repainted it and it came out fine..i suppose a cracked rim or one with a chunk taken out of it might be more of any issue...

That article was very poorly written. There was a good point or two made in it, but I was distracted the entire time because I was trying to figure out why they let a 12 year old write for the paper.

I'm curious as to how badly bent the rim in the second half of the story was. I can't imagine reparing a little bend in the edge of the rim would cause the entire wheel to fall apart.

And bending rims is not a low-profile-tire phenonmenon. My mom managed to bend two rims on her 93 camry which has 65 series tires on it. You hit the right pothole at the right speed and it doesn't matter what you're rollin on..you're going to do some serious damage.
