i tried to google it and nothing to helpfull came up so dont attack me. im gonna get a boost gauge sometime this weeken but i dont know what to go with. mechanical sounds pretty easy to install t it off on the vacuum line. is it really that simple. also i think most electrical boost gauges look better i found one that i really like but how do these work? and how much harder are they to install i have not done any electrical work before but i have friends that can help

I went with the defi red racer boost gaugue, and I think the install was very simple, I just looked off of the how to section for it and used the fuse taps for it

I have the Defi Red Racer also. Install was really easy. I would think that the mechanical gauge would be harder to install since you have to run the vacuum line to the gauge directly. It's much thicker and I didnt want to risk pinching it.

so where do u run the electrical to? to the fuse box or what? how did u get there?

This is a good gauge http://prosportgauges.com/amber-white-premium-electric-boost-gauge.aspx , it comes with clear installation instructions and is almost idiot proof. Mount the sensor in the engine bay reasonably close to the sense line and at a slightly higher elevation if possible, this will prevent any condensate accumulating in the sensor and giving an inaccurate reading. Run a 3 conductor # 16 cable back into the cabin. It depends where you mount the gauge as to where you would get your power supply from, mine is on the center dash so i used the cigarette lighter circuit to source power.
I think you will find reasonable write ups in the how to section, read and understand the instructions before you start, be careful asking friends who say they know what they are doing, sometimes they don’t know and end up butchering your car.

i had aftermarket radio so i tapped for power from that which made it much easier. all boost gauges will come with direction on how to wire the gauge, u jsut gota find the wires on ur car, google wire codes for this car, i had to look em up when i did mine

If you go over in the MS3 Forced Induction section and take a look at the thread called "Questions about installing boost gauge" there are a bunch of suggestions for wiring up the gauge, including which fuses to hook up the wires to and how to get the wires over to the fuse box with the least trouble. One guy even posted a picture of his fuse box. It helped me a lot.
