Boost Gauge

The all one piece set up is done by another forum member.

Sweet! Ok now who is this "other member" who makes this sick all-in-one triple gauge pod? Gosh this is killing me trying to get one of these things. Thnks

I don't think the "Other forum" member is making many to sell. He said one may go up on ebay soon but given it is custom done and the cost of parts it will cost a pretty penny

Ok, so I'm new to the turbo arena, and am thinking about getting a boost gauge. First of all, what makes the Greddy/Defi/Prosports so much better than a cheaper gauge, such as Autometer or Glowshift? Are they really worth 3-5 times as much money? How difficult are they to install? Finally, I think mounting it on the steering column is probably the way to go for now; are there certain mounts that work better than others?

Thanks.

hate to add to the laundry list of questions.... but how do electronic boost guages work? where do they get their signal from?

I'm also new to the turbo world -- loving every minute of it!!!

actually -- you listed prosport under the expensive side when they're reasonably priced, plus you don't need anything extra (like a controller) to make them work. Accuracy ratings are pretty good as well, so unless you're in pro competition, they should work just fine

plus, the prosport color is very close to OEM on the amber/white -- now if there was just a decent mount option for one guage that allows me to keep my left-side ac vent intact and full view of my other gauges.....

how do you hook up the eletrical wires to the boost guage i bought one for my speeed3 and i dont know how to hook the electrical part, really appriciate any help

gsr, you can tap into the orange wire on the dimmer switch. pop out the lower dash where the dimmer knob is. and one wire of ur boost gauge on the orange wire of the dimmer knob. and groud the other onto the chasis. there's one near around the door behind the dash u just took off. U might have to buy a spade so u can crimp it onto the wire so u can bolt it on the ground source. and buy the clip splicing thin so u dont have to solder. it's enough. it wont affect ur gauge's if connected that way. good luck

Before anyone mentions it, I have extensively searched on this forum for this particular thing and haven't found it yet.

About a week ago, I saw a single gauge mount that someone had installed not in the vent, but directly over it. It was molded with what looked like fiberglass and somehow attached onto the defrost vent. Does anyone have a picture or could link me back to this forum? It looked really slick and I'd perfer not to do away with my vent if I can avoid it.

Thanks

Either one of those would work fine. But the first looks maybe closer to what I saw. It was mounted directly on top of (but not obstructing) the defrost vent. Also, the first picture does not come up for me, only the one on the pedestal and the in-car one.

Did you fabricate those yourself or buy them?

I think either of those two pods out by the vent would be great. As far as I know neither is available for our cars yet. That first one is made for the MS6, and is said to not be compatible with the MS3s. The second one is made for right hand drive vehicles, but if there is sufficient interest it may be made available for LHD MS3s.
