Boost gauge wiring for vent pod (6/MS6 specific)

I picked up a defrost vent pod during the GB, and after looking at the install for a Stri gauge, I'm wondering where to tap in for the electrical signal. For those of you with a gauge wired in already, where did you tap into, and did it work with the dimmer circuit? That's part of the install that I want as well.

i tapped into the dimmer switch or you could do an add a fuse which is what i did for my radar detector.

I used some mini fuse taps and tapped right into the kick-panel fuse block. The 12v wire went to the power door lock fuse (30A, slot 3) and the switched went to the seat heaters/rear defroster fuse (15A, slot 15).

I got the Prosport amber boost gauge; I didn't hook up the dimmer wire, so it stays amber all the time.

steve was asking how this is done. not if you tapped into it lol.

i took from the ciggy... i will let you guess on the dimmer.

I haven't even got the gauge yet, but I was wondering when I do the defrost pod how to power it up. I'm guessing the dimmer or a switched signal from the fusebox down below would be the best way, since I'd like to keep the gauge as minimally invasive to the wiring as possible (IE I'd prefer not to splice if possible). Same goes for the boost line tap and the sender. I plan on picking up new hose to cut and keep the stock stuff for when I decide to finally pull it down the road.

buying a new one now is like buying a new one later... :P

i honestly wouldnt try to grab from the dimmer. In my accord i tried to grab from the dimmer for an oil pressure gauge... needless to say i drew too much through it and killed the dimmer. :(

I decided to buy new HIDs instead of the boost gauge right now. Most likely I'll pick one up in the next week or so.

It sounds like my best bet is to grab it from the fusebox itself. When you did yours, did you not put an inline fuse in place so it wouldn't pop the dimmer?

steve i think u asked me before in the GB if mine worked with the dimmer, i completely forgot to answer the question but they do not work with the dimmer.. maybe u can be a pioneer and try and get them to work with it.. but as stated by zinger u may overload it.
