i have a mechanical boost gauge and it works just fine. Autometer sport comp with red bulb cover. the color match is almost perfect.

Defi gauges are crazy...you'll probably have to get electrical at this point since I think they discontinued the mechanical series but you will not be dissapointed

Check out www.prosportgauges.com, specifically the red/amber gauges. When you first plug them in, they do a gauge sweep like the Mazdaspeed6 (and maybe 3.. I dunno) gauges do. Since I'm guessing the MS3 has the same red/blue/white gauges as the normal Mazda3, the prosport amber gauges would work VERY well because you can wire them to light up white. It's LED lit, very very bright and awesome looking. I have a video of mine in the white mode, but I haven't uploaded it yet. Here's my video of them red:

Edit: oh and only the electrical does the sweep when it turns on. The price was excellent and it came with the sender, vaccuum line, wiring, everything you'll need to install it.

just installed my prosport electronic boost gauge. Matches the stock MS6 gauges almost perfectly. I need to check my wiring and hoses though. its reading 26 vacum and when it starts reading boost it ony goes up to 10 psi and is really jumpy. So I need to check my connections. But so far I love the way it looks.

That's the prosport in "amber" mode, right? Did you know if you don't hook up the amber or white wire it just lights up red? I don't know which would match the MS6 interior lights better.. I know my Alpine cd deck's amber matches pretty well to the Protege gauges but of course the gauges are a bit more red.

really I didn't know that. The instructions only mention white and amber. So I just hooked it up to be Amber 100% of the time. but its pretty much a 95% match to the stock MS6 gauges. Don't really notice a big different between them.

Yeah the instructions don't mention it but there was some mention on the web site of a more red mode being available so I gave it a try. See the youtube vid I linked to earlier in this thread for an example on the red mode. It's a lot dimmer than the orange mode, I know that much. Basically the gauge text will match the needle on the gauge.

No I got the gauge installed, but I didn't have the boost sensor under the hood and installed and hooked to the gauge yet.

Kansei - thanks for the heads up. I may disconnect it tonight and see how different it is with non of the light wires hooked up. Thanks for the heads up.

yeah on the prosport gauges if you don't hook up the wiring to the boost sender, after the gauge does it's "opening ceremony" sweep, the gauge needle just slooowly climbs up to 30psi.

mechanical oil pressure gauge? that sounds like a miserable time.. who wants to run oil lines to their dashboard? I wouldn't expect a company like defi to even make a mechanical one.

im also VERY interested in the prosport gauges, as they look good, match the stock gauges, and are affordable. let us know how they work for you.
