Bolt-on High Flow Cat

where can i find one? ive searched but i can only find ones that need to be welded...i would like to get one that is bolt-on for our cars so that if need be i can replace it speedily...also, two questions:

if i had to get one welded on, would the AWR header still bolt on perfectly, or would the cat in some way interfere with the headers design? (prolly a newb questions, but im not that good with that stuff, and anyways my car sits so damn low to the ground i cant look under it!)

does anyone know where i could get just a bolt on straight pipe and eliminate that cat (until i move to CA for a year, because we dont have emissions inspections here!)

thanks a lot guys/gals

I've also been looking into getting the AWR header. As I understand, the header removes the 1st cat (precat) ands runs stock from there. RacingBeat makes a high-flow cat orginally designed for MX-6's but will also fit our cars..don't worry, they are more or less universal. Now, the cat's come in 2.5" or 3" I'm not quite sure how big out piping is..I would go with the 3" then use reducers if necessary..thats me though..as for bolting it? definetly WELD IT..you don't want to risk the chance of leaks..for the cat check out http://www.racingmazda.com/exhaust/mx6/ Good luck with the header and the cat! Hopefully I'll have mine done soon as well..be sure to shoot them an email before you buy just to double check the specs..later -Kyle

thanks man, appreciate it...i was just looking for bolt on so i could swap it back quickly just in case

hmm...haha well I used to think about bolting on stuff..but in reality..weld it..worse comes to worse...god invented this thing called a sawsall..hehe..then you can weld your old one on...i really can't for see you having to take off your cat multiple times..

www.wagnermotorsports.net has a mid pipe comming out very soon that will bolt on to the stock downpipe and will include a flex joint and a radom technology high flow cat. He already has a replacement NA downpipe for the first cat. The mid pipe is on my car now, it isnt on his site yet. He just finished it today, all stainless.

so the mid pipe is bolt-on and replaces the second cat??? awesome i have to get it asap how much is it gonna be???

im not sure about his price. Im sure it will be very reasonable. Andy is a real cool guy, and does real nice work. Im not sure what sizes he is making, mine is 2.5". Shoot him an email. He said he will probally have pics up soon, also his new site will be up soon. If not im going up there wedsday, and ill have some pics.

here is his NA down pipe. It has a high flow cat so it will still pass emmisions. Im anxious to see someone try this.

yes, it will bolt directly on. This will be a great product for people who have catback exhaust. It will work as long as your exhaust is in all stock locations.

well i have the HKS rear section, it should still work for me right? so currently my stock headers will meet the pre-cat, which will have stock pipe after it and then meet with this bolt-on mid-pipe mod, which will bolt to the stock piping, which bolts to my hks rear section? excuse my ignorance, but i havent looked at the area surrounding my current cat so im not sure if it is bolted between sections of piping...that would be perfect, then i could have a straight pipe instead of a 2nd cat but i could replace it if needed

i would think so. If the AWR bolts to the stock exhaust flange, then it will work.

I have a magnaflow rear section...so this "mid-pipe" runs to where? the pre-cat? I would need to combine that randomtechnology down pipe with his high-flow cat? How much will all this run for? moreover, it will just bolt into my factory exhaust?

everything sounds right. if your HKS is an axle back then it is all right, but if you have a cat back then your hks will mount directly to the highflow cat. Im not sure what you mean by rear section? If you dont want any cats tell him he might be able to make that too. He has a jig so it should be simple to make a mid pipe with no cats.

after the pre cat, i think there is a small piece of pipe again. The mid pipe will mount to that, then run back to where your cat is now, then hook back into stock piping, then to your axle back.

whoa getting confusing:eek:

you dont need the NA downpipe, but it will work with the mid pipe.

hmm..the "rear section" is just an axle-back..thats all..hmm....so what exactly does this midpipe do? doesnt sound like it does anything.. I want to remove my pre-cat..then replace the main cat with a high-flow can..whats the story with random technology downpipe then?

the mid pipe replaces your stock piping right after your pre cat all the way to and including your 2nd cat. This will replace your main cat with a simple bolt on mod with no welding needed.

The NA down pipe bolts to the stock manifold and replaces the pre cat with a high flow cat. If you look at the picture i posted of the down pipe, the highflow cat bolts to the manifold, then the 90 degree turn comes down to bolt onto the mid pipe, wheater it be the stock mid pipe or the replacement mid pipe.

For what you said, to replace both cats with high flow ones you will need both NA down pipe and midpipe.
